Question about 2002 Jeep Liberty

1 Answer

CODE P0455 My 2002 liberty has had a code for po455 for over 3 years. I have changed the gas cap with one from Autozone. It never went off. Runs great and haven't had any problems with it driving or working. Still getting 17 and 21 mpg. I just had my sensors (crank and cram) changed. That is the only problem I ever have had with my jeep not running. Got it back yesterday from dealership and they did not get this code or bring it up. Should I be worried?

98 c1500 troubleshooting code p0442. where do i begin with this?

Code 442 should not have any effect on how the engine runs.
The code means the engine computer has detected a small leak in the venting system for the gas tank. The most common reason is a loose or faulty gas cap.

Trouble Code P0174

That code is for mixture adaptation lean. That means that the computer is getting the air fuel mix sorted out. Which could be partially attributed to the higher octane fuel. Typically it means there is an air leak in the induction system (intake manifold, air pipe after the Mass air flow sensor, or a vacuum hose or system) Check all connections on hoses and things under the hood. Make sure your gas cap is on tight. Take the car somewhere like Autozone and have the code deleted and see if it comes back. If it does, take it to the shop and have it checked out.

Here is a good one. I have a 2005 Equinox that we just bought. Went to put gas in the tank and after I was finished I tried to put the gas cap back on and it wouldn't lock down. I figured that the...

I learned the hard way that you cannot buy a replacement gas cap from Auto Zone and have it fit on a Chevy Equinox. I tried for over two months thinking there had to be some other issue (there was), but soon as I gave in and bought a cap from dealer, one of the codes cleared. Don't try to save money. For a few dollars more, it is worth it. I still have other code problems due to battery replacement, but learned my lesson on the gas cap.

Check engine light on. went to autozone and got this code; PO456. need to know which vacuum line to lok for.

First tighten and or replace gas cap and reset computer. Then wait and see if code comes back.If its not the cap could be the vent valve on top of the fuel tank.

Check engine idiot light came on won't go off --runs great, good mileage, checked oil, transmission fluid, gas cap , only 550 miles since oil changed----this 63 old Granny is trying to figure it out!

First go to your local Autozone or Advance parts store and they will use a scanner and check the code and give you a print out for FREE! It only takes a few minutes to do this. Once you have the code I can give you more informed advice.

Hope this helps!

Malfunction Indicator light stays on on my 2006 Jeep Liberty.\r\nCar runs fine but light has stayed on when operating. I have checked gas cap. How can I turn off dashboard indicator light?

Mil light is coming on because it's registering a dtc (diagnostic trouble code) may or may not be evap/fuel vapor discharge like a loose or faulty seal in your gas cap. Have codes checked at an auto parts store (for free) and they can tell you what code/codes are showing. List them here for solutions. You can also have them erase code and if mil lamp comes on again you know somethings to blame and you need to check it out.

My 2005 Jeep Liberty v6 3.7L 4x2 (Basic base model) check engine light came on and my car mileage is 90,100 miles but I did not pay attention if it came on at 90k. My gas cap also was lost a few days ago...

Gas cap is the most likely cause. For more info you may consider registering for free at autozone.com The registration gives you access to dozens of free manuals which are very helpful.
Note that I am not affiliated with autozone, but pass this along as useful information.

My service eng soon light stays on

Could be something a little as a gas cap, take it to Autozone they can do a free code reading, this way you'll know if it's something small or major, but if it's some thing other then a gas cap, have it check at a repair shop before buying any kind of sensor's.
