Why is my transmission fluid leaking around the seal?

If you bought a new axle and seal, it shouldn't leak. Unless they nicked the seal putting the axle. When using a used axle, it needs the rust sanded off before installing. That rust will eat up a seal.

Drive axle seal leaking 2005 Honda Civic DX

Remove the ball joint stud from the lower control arm. Remove the axle nut and remove the axel from the hub. Pry axle out of the transmission. Use a suitable tool to pry or pull the seal out. Clean seal mating surface. Lube seal lip and instal seal in transmission. You may need to tap the seal in but there are times when you can install it by hand. Then install axle, tighten axle nut, and install ball joint back into control arm. And tighten. Don't forget to put cotter pin in and check the transmission fluid.

BAD TRANSMISSUION LEAK

Check the axle shaft seals where the two drive axles enter the transaxle. If leaking there the axle will have to be removed to replace the seal.
Look at the bottom pan of transaxle. If leaking from pan gasket, the pan will have to be removed and transmission drained to replace pan gasket.
There is a transaxle main shaft seal on the front of transaxle, hidden by the bellhousing that mounts to rear of engine.. If the shaft seal is leaking, fluid will be dripping from bottom of bellhousing, and when inspection cover is removed, fluid will be evident inside the bellhousing.
Check also the transmission fluid cooling lines, where the two lines exit the transaxle case, and go to front of car to an external cooler mounted in front of radiator, or going into a separate reservoir in the radiator.

I just had cv axel replaced. In less then 75 miles I am having transmission problems. Fluid is also leaking, I steady stream. Where could the fluid be coming from?

Could be coming from the axle seal, that's where the axle fit in to the transmission, some time's while installing axle, the seal will get damage, hope this was very helpful.

Im leaking transmission fluid and i dont think i have coverage to repair it

Generally the trans pan is first to leak on any transmission. If the perimeter of the pan espeacially the mounting bolts are wet with red fluid change the filter and gasket. Add transmission fluid as recommended in the owners manual also
If the leak is between the engine and the trans the front pump seal or pump seals need replacement.
If leaking at the axle shafts the axle seals need replacing

Hi:
Your manual transmission is most likely leaking from one of the drive axle seals.
If you want detailed diagrams of your car, then a good choice would be purchasing a subscription from :
