Question about Kia Sportage LX

The radio on my 2001 Kia says ''HOLD''

I recently had to replace the battery on my 2001 Kia Sportage and now the radio only plays for about 5 minutes and then the word ''HOLD'' comes on. Before when the battery was replaced it had the word ''CODE'' and the dealership said to put in ''1111 select'' to correct it, but I didn't get that option this time. I have disconnected the battery but it still says ''HOLD'' I do not want to have to take it to the dealership to be fixed because of the time and cost involved.

How long did you leave the battery on hooked. Radio codes are usually written in the owners manual by the dealership. Look in your owners manual in the radio section to see if it tells you anything about (HOLD).

What does the blinking "hold" light mean on a 1999 kia sportage?

this indicates that the gearbox is set/stuck in one gear .I presume this is an automatic ? try disconnecting the battery, leave for 5-10 minutes to allow the power to drain down from the electrical components , before you disconnect battery make sure you have the radio code if one is needed,re-attach the battery (only need to detach the earth lead from battery) try the vehicle, if this doesnt work get the OBD codes read and have them cleared ,this should fix it otherwise further diagnostic investigation will be required at a repair shop

HOLD light is on........car is running fine, recently went in for a tune-up This is a 2001 Kia Sportage

there is a 4-5 inch fuel return hose coming off the fuel rail. Usually most technicians do not see the fuel leak because it is slight and it evaporates fast. it is also close to the cold air intake for the heater(cowl) making the fuel smell inside the vehicle strong. the hose when removed will be dryrotted and hard. the hose costs under 10 dollars and a half hour to an hour labor is needed. it comes directly off the fuel pressure regulator

My radio says hold after we changed the battery. why?

the hold means you must put in the anti-theft code on the radio. To do that you must pull radio ,write down serial number of radio take that number to kia dealer, they can look it up and give you the code to get the radio working again.

1995 Kia Sportage RADIO DISPLAYS ''hold''

hold is displayed when the power has been abruptly cut, like huge surge from dead battery, and someone jumped off car for examlpe.
Sooo, the fix is take out the radio, get the serial number off radio and take number to Kia dealer and they can look up the code to reset it.

I was driving and it just died. makes noise like want's to start but won't engage. has new battery. already checked the relays

Sounds like it might be the alternator. If you can get it charged up enough to make it to either advance auto or autozone, they provide a free diagnostic. Do not use any acessories on your ride ( heater, radio, power windows, headlights, etc.)

Keep getting v rod code on my radio for a 2001 kia sportage how do i fix it to hear the radio

You need to get a hold of the dealer to get the reset code. They will need your vehicle identification number. This code is sometimes there after a battery goes dead or is canged.

There is usually a fuse in the radio itself,or in the radio harness .Also when you check the fuses there are two in the car-one for the always on power and one for the ignition power to the radio.Check the operaters manual to see which ones you need to check. If the radio need to come out you should be able to find the anchor nut under the radio knobs, they just pull off.Good luck.
