Question about 1999 Dodge Durango

Can't git rotors off of a 99 dodge durango. It's not like the dodge rotors back in the 70's. Removed caliper and the center nut. This would normally do the trick but didn't.

Just keep soaking with wd40 and use a bigger hammer

Replacing front wheel bearings on 97 dodge 3500 2wd


If its to wheel drive than it will have a inner and outer bearing. 1. Remove the caliper 2. Remove the dust cap from the center of he rotor 3. Remove the cotter pin from the spindle 4. Remove the castellated nut 5. Remove the nut and washwer 6. Remove the outer bearing 7. Remove the rotor from the spindle 8. Remove the grease seal from the back of the rotor 9. Remove the inner bearing Clean the grease out of the rotor. Use a punch to remove the inner and outer races from the hub. Install the new races into the rotor with a seal/race driver. Pack the new bearings. Install inner bearing into rotor. Install new grease seal. Wipe old grease off of the spindle and apply a thin coat of new great. Install rotor ono spindle. Install outer bearing, washer, and nut. Tighten nut snug then back off nut a half of turn and then tighten agin just barely snug. Install castellated nut and cotter pin. What size allen wrench for brake calipers on 2001 Dodge Dakota 2WD 3.9L and what size is the nut holding the rotor on? Standard or Metric?


a 7 mm hex head wrench for the caliper bolts. the nut that holds the bearings in place is usually a 1 inch or 1 1/16 inch, but a pair of pliers should be enough to take the nut off after the cotter pin is removed. when you put the nut back on DO NOT over tighten it or you will damage the wheel bearings.

Can't get plate off in front off rotor on my 99 dodge 2500 4x4 v10. took off large hub nut and it still wont budge.


Do you want to remove the rotor or the hub and all? To remove the rotor, the caliper has to be out of the way and the bracket that holds it on. The nut in the middle holds the axel into the front wheel bearing and it's a press fit. The axel can be removed and the steering Knuckle can be removed and the knuckle be put on a press to push the hub out of the bearing. This destroyes the bearing and you need to plan on new bearings. They do make a puller that can be rented at the parts store that can pull the hub. once the hub is pulled out of the bearing the rotor can be unbolted from the back side of the hub. It's best to do this work on a press as the bearing needs to be installed with out damage and it's harder to get it right with a sleigh hammer.

Back brakes nut for holding rotors, size?


I'm assuming you want to remove the rear rotors. No rear brake rotor nut for holding the rotor on that I know off. I just had my rear rotors off and turned on my 94 Concorde LX.
After removing the tire I diligenty removed the star washers (2) from the lug studs. Then a little spray of PB Blaster around the center hub. Next I removed the 2 10mm bolts holding the caliper to the rotor. A slight nudge with a rubber mallet and the caliper is free, but do support it, don't let it dangle. Another slight nudge on the rotor with a rubber mallet and the rotor literally fell off the car.
There is a rear axle nut and bearing inside of the center hub that is secured by a large 34mm hex nut, on the outside of that a lock ring that looks like a large black bottle cap with a cotter pin going through it for retention. That has nothing to do with removing the rotors. With a little patience, lubricant and gentle tapping, the rotors slide off the center hub. Hope this helps.

Cant get the rotor off of a 99 , any suggestions


Remove the brake caliper, and caliper holder if it goes over the rotor. If it's 2 wheel drive, remove the center cap, take out the cotter pin. Remove the nut holding on the rotor. If it's 4 wheel drive, once you remove the associated brake parts, spray some WD-40 around the studs and the center of the rotor, try striking the rotor with a rubber hammer. Often the rotor will rust to the hub, on the 4 wheel drives. The 2 wheel drives, have the rotor with the hub for the bearings together, the 4 wheel drive has a "top hat" type rotor.

Can't remove rear disc brakes and roters to be replaced


If wheel and calipers are off, and no retainers on studs, spray some penetrating lube in center of hub where rotor slides over hub shoulder. Let it sit for a minute or two, then place a block of wood against outside edge of rotor and hit block with a hammer. May have to give it a good hit, around perimeter in a few spots to get it to jar loose in center at hub. Usually just rusted. Better if you have a big rubber mallet, and hit hard all around outside area of rotor, but block of wood will do the job as well.

you must remove the spindle to do them ,this means breaks and rotors have to come out,front axle nut has to come out and axle pushed in then remove ball joint nuts and remove spindle.

How do I remove the Front rotor off a 2006 Dodge


the rotor is a slide on, some times the rust holds them on tight. in this case what i would do is hit the top hat of the rotor with a good size hammer all the way around it, then tap the back side of the rotor to gett it off. good luck

Install rotors


Jack up car, remove wheel assembly, remove brake caliper after moving pads into piston and retainer. DO NOT LET THE CALIPER HANG! The rotor is now free to come off the spindle....accordianman
