Could be the brushes within the solenoid of the starter. Perhaps your battery is getting weaker and is no longer able to hold a charge. Check your contacts on the battery terminals to see if they are clean. Check the contacts on the starter as well.Check cables too. Ultimatly, sounds like the starter is in need of replacement.

Car wont start have p16 10 code and red ligth key stay on

The most common cause of a non-starting car is the battery. It is either weak, (low voltage) dead, (zero voltage) or has bad connections. (corroded or loose) I will assume you have a fully charged battery with good connections. (both to battery and starter relay)
If you remove the starter switch lead (small wire) from the starter relay and apply +12v from the battery to its respective prong or lead on the relay, and your starter cranks, your starter switch is faulty. (not to be confused with your key switch). If you jump the two large wires together on the relay and it cranks, then the relay is faulty. If you jump the two large wires together and nothing happens, then starter is faulty, or wires to starter are loose or broken. Picture of starter switch prong on the relay is pictured. NOTE: sparks are to be expected, so don't be too scared.

fuel system is faulty. Check for a clogged fuel filter, or if your fuel pump don't run at all, replace the "fuel pump relay". Sometimes your fuel pump will run, but be too weak to hold pressure, which will let your car idle somewhat, but be too weak to run the engine at speed or under load.

If your car is getting fuel, then the igniton system is faulty. Things to check or replace in the order that I would check them are here: They are the coil, igniton module, cam and crankshaft sensors, map sensor. Your car may be out of time due to a broken timing belt/chain, or it may have been loose and jumped a few teeth on their cogs. Check engine timing and condition of belt. These are not all of the igniton components, but the most common items that go bad. The rest of the components and sensors shouldn't cause your car not to start, but affect driveabiliy.

Sounds like the brushes in the starter are not making contact, could be sticking or gummed up. Could also be the key switch or the neutral safety switch.
You would need to rig up a wire going down to the purple wire on the starter and check it for power when the engine will not crank. If it has power odds are the starter is the problem.

My starter will not stop running on my 1993 tracer

You have the starter contacters with a worn groove. the plunger is wedging in and sticking. The starter needs to be rebuilt.

I have a 99 F350 7.3. Every now and then starter will not turn over after running. It doesn't seem to be time related or anything else. I can park it for a couple of hours come out to start it and nothing....

Intermitten are nasty tings to find, could be a relay or even the starter, keep a hammer and next time it happens tap the starter and try again, if it fixes it every time or most its the starter.

We replaced the starer and there is a problem with a ground in the front next to the firewall that is a ground strap and is on a post when i put the wires on the battery the cars silanoid comes on with out...

sounds like your hooking your starter up wrong.
put the main battery wire on the solenoid side for the battery and the igniton wire on the s for starter no the field. once the igniton is turn on 12 volts to the small
igniton wire on the solenoid causes a magnetic fields and connets the starter lead to the battery hot or positive animating the starter.

1995 toyota 4 runner starting problem once in awhile

Is the starter turning over the engine when it wont start or is nothing happening at all?
I might have your solution if I have more details.
If the engine is turning over but not starting then switch on the ignition and push it to start. If it starts you probably need a new ignition switch.

Please get back to me .Thanks

Ignition

i just had that same prob with mine. My Solution: NEW steering collum / key switch
what was happening was the key would get stuck in the igniton and i had to give it a little tap to get it to relese from the igniton. well, by giving it those taps, it popped a little plastic lever in the collum for the igniton switch. then the car would turn on with the key, but not turn off, i had to do the same thing that you had to do to to turn it off/on.

A steering collum later, and it was fixed
