Try hooking up a mechanical gauge to make sure you have a problem.

When the mechanical gauge goes to zero at Idle does the pressure flutter between 0 and like 2psi? If it does it most likely needs Main bearings

It is weird that it would need main bearings with only 32000 miles. If you fix it now, you might be able to just replace bearings. If you wait you will have to replace the crank and anything else that is damaged from lack of lube. You said you installed an oil pump, pull the oil pan back off,and pull off your main caps. Check the bearings for wear and check the crank journals. You could try to sneak in the bearings but I would recommend pulling the motor, put it on an engine stand. Then pull the oil pan, front cover, and timing chain. Then take all the main caps and rod caps off, push the pistons down away from the crank and lift it out. Have the crank turned or replace it and the bearings. Good luck. You can do it.

Sounds like you may have an oil pump or bearing problem in the engine.

How to replace oil pump un an a 2007 dodge durango 5.7 hemi motor

the oil pump is located inside the oil pan. removing the motor will be needed to do the job unless you got a new way to open the oil pan with everything in the way. if you have really low or no oil pressure. or after driving for a few miles the pressure drops a lot. the bearings could also be gone and that is going to need to be address with the motor out. other option is get a junkyard motor and replace it. but you never know what could be wrong with that motor. try to hear the engine run if possible

Why the oil light came on and off, I had change the new pump, pick up screen, and change the oil sending unit ?

Most likely the oil pump light will come on if the oil pressure is low. This light is based on a pressure sensor. Your oil pump is likely not operating to deliver the required pressure. Check that your pump is installed properly.

2000 Durango: oil pressure works for a few minutes then drops to...

What engine in your Durango? Most likely you have debris on your oil pan clogging the pickup screen, or a failing pump.
Be sure to verify with a mechanical pressure gage that oil pressure is indeed dropping before you take oil pan off.

Hi. this sounds like the oil pressure sending unit may be malfunctioning. could be a bad module or a lose connection. the second issue that may be the primary issue can be a faulty oil pump. you will find the problem in these two areas.

Please rate and god bless:)
