Highway Jerking My van wants to stall whenever I'm in the highway for about 20 minutes. It starts jerking and it feels like it's about to turn off, then I press the gas and it turns back on, or it seems like it does. Then it does it again about a minute later.

SOURCE: Engine runs rough after about ten minutes /idles really low

Just trowing some suggestions out there, but, I would check the idle air control valve (solenoid) or the throttle position sensor. If they check out then my last guess would be the map sensor or the vaccuum to the map sensor. Hope I was able to help. Best wishes.

SOURCE: I have a 1996 Plym. Grand Voyager, hesitation & stalling.

If it works well at speed and acts up when slowing or stopped it doesn't sound like fuel filter or pump. You can try running injector cleaner through the engine to clean the carborator injectors or fuel injectors if you have those. Look at replacing the plugs and wires on the motor.

SOURCE: 1996 Voyager van has check engine light on, will

First thing, and it costs nothing, is clean the throttle body interior thoroughly. Lift the throttle plate with your fingers and make that interior spotless, pay special attention to the rim of the throttle plate too. OK check out how it runs. If the problem is still there have a garage or Autozone do a code read from on the on-board diagnostics (OBD). If the car is exhibiting rough engine running I would check spark plug condition and the efficiency of the spark plug holders/leads. If when the car stalls does it start up directly or is it reluctant. If the former, change the cam sensor and if the latter, change the crank sensor. Both sensors when faulty also give rise to intermittent misfire events. At the age of your vehicle I would replace both as an insurance policy as they both have finite life. If no codes show on OBD replace the O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold. O2 sensors deteriorate with age and often give problems before the on OBD can detect them. The fact that you have a CEL also indicates an emission fault which points to an O2 sensor signal outside of normal range.

My Subaru is making a jerking feeling

What year? What model? Jerking... when? Where do you feel the jerk? Do you have a "Check Engine" light on the dash?

You may have just lost a front axle. The rubber boot around the CV joint cracks, and dirt gets in and ruins the CV joint. This shows up as a sideways jerking in the steering wheel, rapidly getting worse and worse. It feels dangerous, and it IS dangerous. If it\'s allowed to continue, it could break the axle shaft - you certainly don\'t want that to happen on the highway.

If you\'re NOT talking about a sideways jerking in the steering wheel, please desribe what you DO feel, and when it happens, and if your "Check Engine" light comes on. It might possibly be nothing more serious than your air conditioner turning on & off.

Hesitation jerking

Go to a repair shop & you pick up a mechanic

You drive & go for a 20 mile ride & explain the issues
to your rider

Then they should have an idea of why your there & possible
vehicle issues

2000 E150 van has jerking during acceleration had new spark plugs, oil change and filters replaced. The van stalled on the highway could not get it to start. Mechanic said could be fuel pump but started...

The mechanics right on tract,If you have a misfire, you would depending on the severity misfire, run rough and stall but restart, within a short time.Because it is a s fuel pump a sufficient amount of pressure is not maintained and at the same time is being consumed ,causes you to hesitate then stall. Your pump being electical and in the tank is being intermittent, a replacement is what you going to need.

I have a 2005 Chevy Uplander, and when driving on the highway at about 60-65, the van occasionally drops RPM's and when you press the gas harder, it recovers without any jerking or anything. The same...

This is a rare one and can be tricky. Since your rpm gauge rises back up when you increase your acceleration slightly but you feel no jerking of acceleration then this tells me that a speed/rpm senser either has a bad connecton or the sensor itself is going bad when the engine reaches an optimum heat while driveing on the highway. Since you feel no acceleration when you slightly press the accelerator down but yet the rpm gauge is increasing back to normal, the throttle body sensor may be compensating for the failed speed sensor/failed sensor connector. Please get your uplander diagnosed properly first to confim this.

Car is jerking and rpm is moving up and down

I would start with a tune up then. Is your check engine light on or flashing.

Shuddering/jerking on highway, pull over, wont start for 30 mins

Last time I had that happen in a car everything blew. I found out the root of the problem was my timing chain, but I can tell you, you don't want to wait to get that checked out in any case or you will end up with a lot more problems.
