Question about 1994 Chevrolet G20

1 Answer

94 Chevy G20 won't start at times

My van refuses to start at times. I have a new engine, transmission, and battery under the hood. How can I tell if the problem is the starter or the alternator, or both?

Its possible its the solenoid in the starter. you can jump the positive terminal to the ground post on the starter to see if this works. b careful not to get in the way of any moving parts. or try cleaning the posts on the starter and even the alternator some times this works

Has new battery and alternater but next day the battery dead

The battery and or alternator maybe defective, even new parts can be defective, look into getting the alternator and battery checked, if they are good, than you have some other electrical problem, maybe parasitic draw.

I have a 94 chevy g20 van w a 350 when I turn the key there's nothing not even a click. I can get the starter to turn underneith with a screw driver but it won't engage just free spins

Assuming you have a good battery there is a small wire that goes to the battery terminal on the starter (big red wire) That is where you get power to ignition switch. this is a fusable link wire If you pull on it slightly and it streches it is burned into.Resist the urge to replace it with a non fuseable wire, it is at any parts store

I would be looking for fuel first a faulty fuel pump. second seeing if you have spark, bad wires or plugs or even distributor, timing could be out

I have a 1985 chevy g20 sportvan the tranny is slipping i need a new one it has a tubo 350 in it and i need to know how to tell if it is short or long

What your looking for is the length of the rear tail shaft housing on the transmission. You want to measure the length of the one on your vans transmission. You will need to get under your van and measure from where the drive shaft slides into the back of the transmission to one of the 4 bolts a the front of that housing.

Where is the jack stored on our 1995 Chevy G20 van

It should be located on the right hand side fender wall on most Chevrolet / GMC Vans. Another location it may be under your hood on one of the fender walls (these is more common with Dodge)

go to a parts shop and ask for a chiltons or a haynes manual. it will be in there. if there is still a good sticker under the hood it will be on there.
