So the reason why my 2 injectors are coming up "missfire" is b/c the car was diagnosed in the wrong fashion... So when I do replace the timing belt with a new one what would be my next steps to take...?

The car ran fine then a mechanic replaced the old timeing belt with a new one which is now the timeing belt that is currently on the car now. Would it be possible for me to contact you by phone or if possible could you call me at (309) 620-2132 my name is Mike.

    Thank you

You have the timing belt off. If the engine computer sees the Crank sensor and the cam sensor don't line up, the engine computer will shut down two injectors. It sounds stupid, but trust me. I have seen this before.

Check the timing belt first. Then go through regular diagnosis.

The car orginally had a broken timing belt right? And the car ran fine before this happened right?

Try changing the spark plug on that cylinder, and then the cap and rotor and wires if needed. It is most likely the problem. If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

you may try your rotor button and distributor cap. and spark plug wires. try your map sensor also they tend to cause a lot of misfiring if they go bad.hope this helps.

I just resently replaced a brken timing belt on my 96 neon

Neons used a DOHC interference type engine. I hate to tell you this, but the valves are bent, and your entire valve train (possibly your cylinder head) needs to be repaired or replaced all together.

1996 VW Passat - Random cylinder miss fire, worse

Pop the heed, see the air box on the very left? On top of that box is the Ignition Control Unit. Little black square w/ winds about 1/2"
thick....

That is the problem. Or Your MAF sensor...
I don't know how to chech the Ignition Control Unit with out the proper tester.

But the MAF is located directly below in side the box.
If you POP off the large hose that comes out of the front of the air box. You can see the MAF, spreay it some contact cleaner for electronics not BREAK CLEANER>>>>>>.

Bad water, Timing Belt replacement

hi it sounds like the belt is out a tooth as if it worked ok before the belt was fitted if the belt is correct it would run as before the engine light will come on if is misfiring soon as it detects it misfiring on more than three occacions and if its missing n 1. 2 and three this would seem to back this up do a compression test see what that reveals if it is out a tooth it may well have bent a valve hope this helps yates210456

Timing belt has nothing to do with fuel issue. If you're only running on 2 cylinders...you need to find out if spark is missing from those cylinders. Also possible that when the timing belt was replaced, it was not timed properly which can bend a valve, causing rough running.
