Question about 1995 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

My 95 Pontiac Bonneville is not getting gas I've checked the fuel pump fuse, the fuel pump relay under the passenger side and replaced the fuel filter. Is there anything else that could cause the gas not to pump or should I take the gas tank off and inspect the gas pump? Also is there away to check if the gas pump is bad. All I know is that there is no pressure in the gas lines and that no fuel is getting to the injectors. Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. That is what the Chilton manual that I have said to check that the fuel pump is making a noise but I don't know what to listen for and I don't think it is making any noise. I was thinking of testing the voltage going to the relay coil. The instrument panel has the "guage" light on. The car cranks and the ignition circuit is good because the spark plug sparks. (I had the alternator and battery checked as well and they checked good)

What you need to do is have an assistant turn the key on (not try to start, just turn the key on) while you have the gas cap removed and your ear down by the gas tank fill tube. When they turn the key on you should hear a whirl only for 3-7 seconds. If you hear nothing more than likely you will need to change your fuel pump. Attempt this test on several tries at different times several hours apart before you **** your tank out to give it ample time to relieve any fuel pressure that may be built up thus causing your pump not to respond. BUT, if you are not getting any fuel you are not getting any pressure built up so it should be making some sound. How many miles do you have on this vehicle? 9 times out of 10, sorry to say, you'll be replacing the fuel pump. It sounds like to me that you have thourouly checked every other possible thing. Good luck my friend. Let us know how you come out.

SOURCE: how do I replace headlight switch in my 95 Pontiac Bonneville

assuming that u have replaced any bad fuses. you have to remove the cover around the instrument panel. then u need to have a socket small enough to remove the screws that hold the head light switch in place. the head light switch knob should come out. you may have to pull it out first before u take the cover off. then remove the old switch and disconect the wires then replace the switch. i hope this helps

I have a 95 bonneville ssei it ran but ran sluggest than quite running wont start but starts with starting fluid in the air filter than quicks what can it be

Listen for fuel pump in tank when turning key to "on" position. If pump is not working, check pump relay and fuse (probably in engine compartment fuse panel). If fuse and relay are good, suspect pump has failed.

No pressure at fuel rail on 88pontiac grand prix can not hear fuel pump kick on

Did you check your fuel pump relay and related fuses to make sure no fuses were blown? Passenger side under-hood electrical center shows # 3 fuse 20 amp fuse controlling fuel pump and ECM. Also #12 is also Fuel pump relay in Passenger side under-hood electrical center. These would be the first things to check.

Where is the fuel pump relay located on a 1988 Pontiac Bonneville?

All relays are located at the center rear of the engine compartment, below the left side under-hood fuse block (behind the maxi-fuse/relay center cover). There should be a diagram under the cover, that will direct you to the relay you seek.

1993 Pontiac Bonneville will idle only

Wait, first check the fuel pump, fuel filter and the ignition coils. If your fuel pump goes bad, it will start to heat up a lot and **** the voltage from your alternator, indirectly lower your battery voltage and can also be linked to coil failure. It will act up more when there is less than 1/4 gas in the tank. you can check the coils by getting a new or used coil and using the process of elimination (very rarely do all 3 go bad, if your car finally turns on and shakes so much that it feels as if will turn off but never does and your voltage goes way down then its at least 1 of your coils). The fuel filter should be changed if it hasn't been changed in the last year ( I recommend it for these cars as bad gas causes much damage) and check to see if fuel is getting to your engine. These cars also have fuel leaks around the front of the car especially where the 2 metal fuel lines meet under the front passenger side (the rubber connector wears out). If you're fuel pump is bad I then recommend changing your fuel pump relay as voltage and pressure will adjust. I hope this helps. Good luck
