U do it with a certain sequence of buttons being pushed, but forgot that info (had this car 6 years ago), see if a dealer tech will part with it or buy a used factory service manual on ebay motors.

Why does my check engine light come on?

You need to scan for trouble codes. Autozone and other parts stores will hook up a code scanner for free, and tell you the code numbers. Then you or a tech will start the diagnosis from there.

When the light comes on with the engine running, the engine computer has detected a fault in the engine management which it controls. It turns the light on to let you know there is a fault, and an associated trouble code, or at least a pending trouble code, has been stored in memory. All you have to do is plug in a code reader or scanner into the diagnostic port under the dash, turn the key to on, not start, and the codes will be displayed.

The diagnostic port is a federally required universal connector. All cars and trucks sold in the U.S. after 1996 models have the exact same connector, for communicating with the vehicle's main computer. The system is called OBD-II, for On Board Diagnostics, second generation, and is an example of good government regulations for the cleanest burning engines possible...less air pollution.

Location of ignition switich relay on a 96 dakota

That wouldn't have anything to do with the ignition relay. It's probably computer related, so scan for trouble codes. Any vehicles, 1996 or newer, have the same diagnostic connector, and use On Board Diagnostics, second generation- or OBD-II. That's how all code scanners and code readers are set up for. So retrieving trouble codes is easy. Most national auto parts stores do it for free.
If no codes, check for vacuum or air leaks, check fuel pressure, be thorough and systematic, use common sense, you'll find it. Several computer sensors may be related to cold and normal operating temperature running conditions. Check for codes, then use a systematic process. Best I can help you with.

Service engine soon lite is on

You need to have the engine computer scanned for trouble codes to find out why the light is on. The computer has detected a fault in a sensor or controller that it monitors. The code will tell you what it is.
Autozone and many other national chains perform this scan for free. They can hook up a hand held scanner to the engine computer and give you the code, or codes if more than one. Just ask for an OBD-2 scan for trouble codes. OBD means on board diagnostics. OBD-2 is the system on all cars manufactured after 1996 to the present.
After you get the codes, you can decide what to do. Sometimes it's an easy fix, but sometimes a mechanic may need to do further testing and diagnosis to fully correct the problem.

Yellow light on dash, emissions workshop warning

Volkswagen vehicles built after 1996 are equippedwith a system of sensors known as On Board Diagnostics (OBD II). These sensorsmonitor many vital engine functions and help to lower harmful emissions. Whenone of these sensors fails it sends a signal to the engine computer to illuminate the "CheckEngine" light in the dash. To clear this light you will need a diagnosticcode scanner. Scanners range in price from $40 to $120 and are available atmost auto parts stores.

1. Connect the diagnostic code scanner to the vehicle's diagnostic port. Theport will be located in the dash below the heater controls.. 2. Turn the key to the"Run" position, but do not start the engine. 3. Press the button on thescanner that reads "Scan for trouble codes." 4. Wait for the scanner to finishscanning the engine's computer. 5. Press the button on thescanner labeled "Clear all trouble codes." 6. Disconnect the diagnostic codescanner from the vehicle. How do you reset the service engine light?

Locate the diagnostic connector. On the 1997 Nissan Maxima the connector is located in the OBD2 standardized location under the driver-side dash, slightly to the right of the steering column. With the ignition key in the "OFF" position, plug the connector of the scan tool into the diagnostic connector of the car. Turn the ignition key to the run position but do not start the engine unless instructed to by the scan tool.

Turn the scan tool on and select "Global OBD2" from the main menu. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" from the first sub-menu, and then "Read Trouble Codes" from the second sub-menu. Write down all listed codes and their descriptions before erasing them. This will save time if you must perform additional diagnostics.

Press the back button on the scan tool until the second sub-menu is displayed, and select "Erase Codes" or "Clear Codes," depending on the manufacturer of the scan tool. A message will appear asking you to confirm your desire to erase the codes and other stored data. Select "Yes". The scan tool will alert you when the codes have been erased.

Test drive the vehicle to verify the repair is complete. The 1997 Nissan Maxima on-board computer will run a series of tests on the systems in the vehicle, including emission control devices. To complete these tests you must take two test drives that include a variety of driving conditions, with a 2-minute cool-down between each test drive. If the service engine soon light does not come back on during these two test drives, you have completed the repairs and the reset.

My check engine light is on and the track off light keeps blinking

You need to pull the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) from the computer (ECM) in your vehicle using a OBD II (On Board Diagnostic) II scanner or reader,

Your local AutoZone can do it for you at no charge, get the code and it will tell you what part is bad.

After you have it fixed you need to have the code cleared or erased using the same scanner.

Did not pass state inspection (vehicle)

First the fault codes,
U110C is No Fuel Level Bus Message
U0155 is No Cluster Bus Message.
Unfortunatly you have to be able to communicate with the instrument cluster with your scanner to diagnoise and I do not think an aftermarket scanner can do this.

I have sonata 2002 the engine check light when i running

Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on. You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps eventually fix the problem.
