My husband has a 2001 GMC Sierra. Everytime something happens with his battery, his radio locks. We have the unlock code in our other computer, but it is in the shop. How do I unlock his radio?
The battery died in our 2000 GMC Sierra.....The stereo is locked and we cannot find a code anywhere...The previous owner doesn't have it either..It's not in the manual or behind the glove box as suggested elsewhere...Any ideas?

The reason the radio won't work is because of theft deterrent stuff built in radios now where if power is unhooked from the battery, you have to enter a code to get it unlocked. I would start by looking at your owners manual to see if there is a paper or page that would give the code you need to press to unlock it. If no luck there, I would go to the nearest GM dealer and tell them what happened and they should help you out and most likely not charge you anything.
