we've been having the same problem with our Chevy. I've been taking it in before the warranty ran out. To no avail they don't have any answer to this. We have replace the water pump, intake manifold, gasket, core plug and flushed. I think every 1/10,000 chevy truck had this problem and I happen to get stuck with one. Currenty, we gave up trying to fix the problem and just make sure that it don't goes empty on the coolant. Any take on this.

What are the symptoms of a bad intake gasket on a 1999 buick century?

Coolant leaks,When the intake manifold gasket cracks or blows out, coolant will leak out of the intake manifold. You may see puddles underneath your car or notice smoke or steam coming off of the engine and exhaust from the coolant dripping onto it and then burning.Overheating, If the intake manifold gasket fails and allows coolant to leak out into the engine, your car will begin to overheat. If your car frequently runs low on coolant or begins to overheat, check the intake manifold gasket.Running poorly, When the intake manifold gasket falters, it affects the way the motor handles its emission gases. The change in pressure can affect the vacuum in the intake as well as how smoothly your car runs. Mainly, it will idle roughly and may hesitate, cough or sputter.

What does it mean if there is oil in my coolant reservoir

oil too low!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! have some change your oil & filter immediately !!! drain radiator & coolant reservoir , refill w/ fresh 50/50 coolant , white smoke is not exactly a good thing ! it could mean coolant is mixing w/ oil , because of a possible leak from a bad gasket either from intake manifold or head gasket !!! water pump would not cause this ! I would bet on a gasket leak given the age of the car . 2000 ! 13 years old, how was it maintained, intake gaskets are cheaply made, head gaskets are made well ! so, my bet, goes to the intake manifold gasket !!!!!!good luck kristle !

I'm having overheating problems with my 2004 chevy silverado two wheel drive ext cab. I'm frequently havining to add coolant. I have not found any leaks and have not smelled any anti-freeze.

Check your transmission dip stick to make sure it's not going in to your transmission from a bad transmission cooler which is incorporated with the radiator.
The only other thing that i can think of, which is common is the intake gasket may have failed and your losing your coolant from there and being burnt through your engine. If it's a slow enough leak, your not going to see any coolant cause it's going through your engine's combustion chamber with the intake air.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck.

I have a coolant leak on my 2001 chevrolet silverado - I replaced the water pump - but it still has a coolant leak

You need to pressure test the system to determine exactly where the leak is coming from...Because it could be any hose, pipe, or even the intake manifold gasket...But just pressure test it, and that will save you alot of time and money...

Low coolant + little coolant going through the heater core ergo no heat inside vehicle.
