2001 VW tdi 1.9 ALH engine fuel line taking in air Hard start

Since the problem i have changed the fuel filter and the 2 o rings on the t fitting first day got better and next day back to air in line this is a 2001 1.9 tdi ALH engine there is also no sign of leak oil/dirty spots on line
Anythought will help Thanks Nick

SOURCE: 2000 GMC Jimmy will not start

Need to check for fuel pressure and volume. If you turn the key on and you have pressure, then you should be able to start and run. If your fuel pressure gauge has a releif hose on it, then while running, dump fuel into a jug and the engine should stay running. If the vehicle will not start but cranks over, then turn the key off and on a few times. the fuel pump will only stay on for a few seconds and cycle off. Sounds like you are losing your fuel prime from the pump to the engine. Only fix is to replace the fuel pump if you are losing your prime.

SOURCE: hard starts in the morning even though replaced most parts

Check the power to the cold start injector. (it's only going to have fire for a few sec. after the key is turned on). If the fire is good, replace the cold start injector. This injector is activated for a few seconds when the engen temp is low to add a little fuel lower down in the intake and closer to the pistons.

99' f-150, 5.4 triton V8, 340,000 miles. Runs great unless I drive 15 plus miles and shut off. If I try to start right away, it turns over but won't start. I wait from 10 to 40 minutes until starts.

Could be vapor-lock. When you shut it down fully warm, heat can cause the fuel in the lines to boil, making it hard to start. Low fuel pressure can make the symptoms worse, as full pressure will condense the vapor, and get your fuel flowing.

I would check fuel pressure while running, and again, during the time when it doesn't start.

Could be lots of things, I'll start with ignition. Could be spark plugs or wires, when its dark start the car, open the hood and look to see if any of the plug wires leak electricity(you will see arcing etc.. if any do replace the set.
Pull plugs and look at them if they are older replace them. You can also pull each plug wire while its running and see if the idle changes if it does not that cylinder is not running.
Could be fuel, Look up how to check mass air flow sensor and fuel injectors. Other areas of fuel could be an issue but these are two major ones that can cause a car to run lean or rich.
Could be compression in on or more cylinder borrow a compression tester and check each piston to ensure they are at the right range.
These are the most common issues that cause a car to run rough but there are others if these all check out.

There are many possible causes why it won't start, but when it was not used for a long time I would check the fuel line. Only one bubble of air can stop the free flow of fuel.
Or a dried out dirty filter in the line.
Try to suck the fuel up to the fuel pump and check if the pump really delivers fuel.

Will fuel filter cause car not to start

There can be so many causes for a car not to start. Could be the fuel, a fuel pump, one of the many filters, an air bubble in the fuel line. But also a bad spark plug, bad compression because a gasket is defect. A broken timing belt and and and.
That is why a technician wants to start the engine (or let you start) so he can hear how the engine responds.
I know lots and lots of technicians, who can repair almost any car, who can't tell you from a distance what is worn with your car now.

But yes it could be a fuel filter.

DISCONNECTING THE VACCUM LINE AND PLUGGING THE MANIFORD PORT HAS HELPED UNTIL I AM ABLE TO AFFORD THE REGULATOR. TO HELP CLEAN THE OXY SENSOR, SPEED UP THE IDLE AND DISSCONNECT THE BRAKE BOOSTER VACCUM LINE AT THE ENGINE. THE FRESH AIR WILL SOMEWHAT HELP CLEAN THE SENSOR IF IT IS ABLE TO BE HELPED. I AM TOLD THAT THE OXY SENSOR ON THESE MODELS IS CRIDICAL. JACK

Fuel problem

Check for problems with the mass airflow sensor, oxygen sensors, and coolant temperature sensor. If the mass air sensor is bad or malfunctioning, it can cause the computer to add too much or too little fuel and create a problem (ditto for the oxygen sensors). A coolant temp sensor that is going bad may tell the car's computer that the car is cold when it isn't, and if so, the fueling will be wrong.
