Re: power windows on 1995 safari just stopped. new motor...
Slim chance it's the motors. They usually last almost for ever. Check for power at the motor. If power is present when you try to activate the window, then the motors are bad. I would look for fuses, relays, or bad window switch. If the window switch is bad, it could be preventing them from working. A simple check could be, pull negative battery cable off. Wait about 10 seconds and reconnect. If the windows make a noise, you probably have a bad switch. Remember, this will most likely clear all your radio stations when you disconnect the battery.

with every thing apart did you check for power and ground at the motor when operating the switch, in both directions. if you do have them then you can hit the window motor while pushing on the button and sometimes the motor will start to work. however it may stop working at any time. if it does not work then the motor needs replacing. either way its a good idea to replace the motor seeing as you have everything apart.
some times by banging on door panel while pushing switch,,if the window moves,,then put it up & go get a window motor,if you want you have to take inside door panel off to excess the power motor or to ck power with test light
the cur kit breaker was shorted out gave me 12 volts still but when I used a volt light and touched the out side metal housing the light lite up that means a short so I replaced the breaker and wala they work.
The same thing happened to my 1999 JMC Jimmy recently. I believe the problem is that your power window motor has most likely gone out or is starting to go out. The motor will need replaced. They are pretty expensive new. I went to a junkyard and got one for around 15 dollars. When mine went bad, I had rolled my window down about three or four inches and it stuck there. I took my door panel off and tapped on the motor while holding up on the window switch and got it to go up after a few minutes. I am replacing my motor today, I'll leave an update here about the outcome when I finish the job. I hope this information helps you.
I had a similar problem in my 1993 Safari. Problem turned out NOT to be a switch, but a broken wire in the driver side door opening between the door and the frame. I found a cut in the wiring insulation, and it corroded, breaking. This disabled the window control.
