Question about 1998 Volkswagen Jetta
OK, I just bought a Jetta and it had sat for a few months before I got it. It needed a jump when I showed up to get it and it ran fine coming home which was fairly far away, and I filled it with gas and put some fuel inj. in it and it ran fine for a few days. Then a few days ago it wouldn't start. It sounded like it wanted to, but wouldn't. A friend of mine took out the plugs one at a time and checked them and then since there wasn't a spark I went and got a used coil for it and when it was put in it still wouldn't start. So, my friend said, HEY, lets see if it needs a jump! So I figured what the heck it couldn't hurt! Well, when he told me to try it it started right away! He told me to let it run for about an hour but being a women I didn't and took a short ride and and shut it off when I parked and it started up for me again. Then when I got home, mabe 1/2 hr. later and letting it idle, it wouldn't start again at nite or this morning! I asked my friend to jump it again but it wouldn't start. But like I said, it wanted to. The plugz looked good and all the rest so don't know whats going on! I don't want to have it towed back to the person who sold it to me if I don't have to because I like the car but don't know what's wrong. I know this is a long shot, but mabe someone could help me? Thank you all so much!
How old is the battery? i had the same problem and it turned out the battery was dead so it didnt wouldnt start if you let it sit for even a half hour. go to a shop and they should test the battery for free.
