I have a 1999 Buick century and the passenger side windshield wiper has quit working!!!! I tried tightening the little bolt thing that holds it onto the car, and it stated moving like maybe a centimeter up and down, I am out of ideas and don't really have the money for a mechanic, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: passenger wiper quit working
Motor only drives one arm to wipe. the passenger side arm might be disconnected. you have to reomve parts and visulally inspect. you might need a bolt or a washer, but should be an easy realignment fix.

i`m not sure what you mean by it not working properly i assume that you mean it goes back and forth like the passenger side, but it doesn`t clean the window and you put the blade on the arm correctly then the wiper may be damaged and you will have to replace the wiper blade.check and compare the installation of the driver`s side to the passenger side wiper and correct the installation of the blade
Good Evening. First off I would like to give you a little advice on your passenger side windshield wiper. On your windshield wipers there is a nut at the base of the arm, try tightening that nut down (of course while your wipers are off) and that should make it work going off the description of your wiper problem. Your Antilock and trac off are lights that are tied into your antilock brake system and will both come on together. Your high pitched squeal could be a few things like brake pads, or a backing plate rubbing. Your hub assembly really won't make a squeal but would be a good reason for the anti lock light to be on. Your best bet is to have the antilock system scanned for codes to know exactly what is making the system to pass a code. Any other questions please feel free to ask. Hope this helps.
if the passanger wiper stopped working AND the drivers side is still working...one of two problems. the easiest is to pop off the black cap at the base of the wiper arm, under it you will find a nut. check to see the nut is tight. turn the wipers on and observe the post that the nut is on, if it is turning, then the nut needs to be tightened or the spline on the post or wiper arm is stripped. If the post is not turning, then most likely an arm on your wiper assembly has come off, remove the wiper arms remove the black plastic cowl and you will find the wiper arm assembly.
good luck. HTH
At the base of the wiper arm, there should be a cover.
Pop up that cover. Underneath that cover should be a nut. Tighten the nut. Careful not to overtighten!
That retaining nut has become loose.

wiper arm bolt needs to be tighened, or more common the arm needs to be replaced. where the bolt is the end arm insert is made of soft led as to strip out if arm becomes binded by snow, tree branch etc so the more expentise linkage or wiper trasmisson, or motor do not become damaged.
Sounds like you need two new wiper motors. I beliveve the gearing inside the motors are worn out and now theres alot of play in them. Try wiggling the wipers with you hands and see if you can feel any up or down / side to side movement.
Check to see if the wiper motor moves the passenger side. If so, You may need to tighten the nut that connects the arm to the motor. Mine was stripped out because or snow & ice. So, I went to home depot and found a lock washer to fit.
