The engine and exhaust system is flooded the answer is to charge the battery fully and then with the throttle pushed to the floor keep turning the car over and it will start eventually. Don't give up until the battery runs out.

The reason for the flooding is the car has been started and stopped before reaching normal running temperature. This causes the injection system to think the engine is cold and still requires extra fuel injected into the cylinders. I have tried removing the plugs and letting the engine dry out which did not work. The only answer is to keep turning the engine over with the throttle on the floor. Dont be scared of the back fire thru the air box.

Wiggle the bsattery terminals while someone else is trying to start car and see if that works. if not have some try to tsrat car as you bang on the starter which is directly to the left of the air box and down. you can use a tire iron or a hammer with a long metal object to bang on.

when my egr valve went bad i would turn my air on and hear a bang like something was being force open or close do to poor vacuum. it would hesitate to start and sputter at stop lights then the idle would jump up then really low. once i changed the egr valve everthing was normal. it seems to rust out then get stuck close. the damn electric air pump is used in the first 10-15 seconds of start up and in wet climates will retain water wich then will rust these delicate parts like the egr valve.55 dollar solution at auto store 30min job

Really silly questions now!

If it is an auto box! have you got in any gear other than Park??
Have you checked the immobiliser????
Crank angle sensor is ok?????

I've experienced problems with Jag's in the past! this sounds crazy but check that the coolant temp sender is not worn out and shorting on the bonnet liner! sounds crazy but this has hapened before! shorted out the entire ignition system!

AC blows hot air intermittanty

On the passenger side of the engine compartment near the radiator you will see a coolant control valve that has heater hoses running from it to the heater core inside vehicle. This is probably going bad.You can clamp off the hoses with some pliers while it is acting up and see if this stops the heat.If it does then it is probably bad.

Jaguar S Type V8 Auto 2000 no start

Check all your fuses first as it sounds like you shorted something out, did you turn the jag off before connecting the jump leads, if you did you will be ok but if you did not it is more than likely a fuse.
hope thishelps

My jag xj sport v8 3.2 will not start

give the battery a full charge....un clip the air filter housing and leave it resting in place, put your foot to the floor on the gas pedal and keep cranking til it starts up,dont release the ignition key til it fires up,it will pop and bang and then when it fires up will smoke for a little bit (couple of mins) and then it will be fine.
If that doesnt work you will have to remove all 8 plugs, clean them, pour about 2 teaspoons in each cylinder before replacing plugs then do the same as above.
What happens with these engines is the cylinders get a bit too much fuel in them and it washes the oil away down the bores thus losing comression so it wont start.Instead of starting it up and switching it off briefly, let it run a bit and then give it a little rev before switching off...hope this helps
