Have a 96 Buick Park Ave. In Aug I changed the thermostat because the temp gauge showed the motor was running cold. nothing changed. In Sept I had the water pump replaced because it started leaking. M

Is your 3800 producing normal heat? If so, the temp sensor is probably bad...If not, try replacing the radiator cap...if your system has air trapped inside, it usually runs hot, not cold...the heat is the key to functioning properly for you...Your radiator is a 4 stage huge system that normally cools very well...if you have heat, I still think your temp sensor is bad...ask to see one at your parts store, will help you to locate it. Hope this helps.

2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX OVERHEATING

Check the operation of the heater control valve. It will be conected to one of the smaller hoses leading to the heater core from the engine.

06 town car that is over heating. i changed the fan unit twice and it stil over heats is there some relaison the fuse pannal

I would be looking at the following...

  1. Thermostat may be stuck closed
  2. Look for signs the water pump is leaking under the car. This is an indication the water pump is failing.
  3. Have your radiator checked to make sure the core is not plugged up.

Bmw 728i over heating problem

The thermostat and water pump are both common failure points on BMW 6-cyl engines of this era. I would recommend checking the thermostat first, then moving on to the water pump. If the vehicle has overheated several times, you may need to remove the cylinder head and have it checked for warp.

Car is over heating and going into the resovier. Replaced water pump, thermostate twice. Someone in this forum mentioned a spring loaded switch. However this is a 3.1 motor Pontiac Grand Prix SE two door....

If you have a white, milky fluid, you have moisture in the oil. No question on this. You may try retorquing the top of the engine (heads, intake, etc.). Change oil and filter. Now if this has electric motors for cooling (fans), make sure they are working. Don't overlook the obvious. Check the radiator cap. Cooling system must have pressure to function right. A bad cap could cause overheating.

Good Luck

Poor heat after head replacement

i would go for the water pump, often people change the head gasket but remember,,, something usually makes this blow ie thermostat, dodgy water pump, blocked radiator ect,,,, but water pump would be my diagnostic

Water leak

Sorry to say but that's more than likely the water pump. The water pump is located in the timng line. You will have to take the timing belt off to change the water pump. While you're changing the pump you may as well chang the timing belt so you don't have to go through that job twice.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
