SOURCE: pour antifreeze and it some leaks out the bottom of car

Probably a gash in under the radiator; drain-plug not tight or bad; hoses leaking.

My 2000 ford contour is leaking antifreeze/coolant. i noticed that i would have to buy a gallon about 2-3 times a week. then this morning i saw the anitfreeze/coolant on the ground. when i dropped my kids...

Conway residents say someone is poisoning their pets."Some antifreeze tastes really good to a pet and they may drink it willingly, so if they have access to it there may be no limit to what they take in. I hope you don't live there. You may just have a leaking hose or a leaking thermostat housing (4 cyl). Get someone to check and get it fixed soon as you may ruin the engine. Fixing the leak will be cheaper then buying another engine.

Loosing antifreeze daily

It can cause problem to engine if it isn't cooling it good enough, but personally I would really just take it to your automotive mechanic. It might just be a simple fix to replace radiator, but I would consult a professional mechanic.

Smoke poured out of the air vents and then the vehicle shut off

Was it smoke or antifreeze? Check your coolant level. Your heater core could be leaking antifreeze.

Need diagram where bottom radiater hose attaches to engine where it appears to be leaking

This is how I like to do it. Make sure the car is parked with the front end at an upward angle. Drain the coolant from the petcock at the bottom of the radiator. Remove the upper and lower hoses at the radiator. Remove the thermostat housing, and the heater core hoses at the fire wall. Flush out the radiator by pouring fresh water into the overflow, and the hole where the thermostat was. Flush the heater core as best you can by pouring fresh water into the heater core hose connections.
Let all the water drain out, then button everything back up and replace the thermostat with a new one. Refill the rad and engine by filling the coolant reservoir with a mix of 50% water and 50% antifreeze, or buy the premixed stuff from the auto parts store. (Buy 4 jugs of premix or 2 of straight antifreeze)
Run the engine until it reaches operating temperature and the upper rad hose gets hot. Rev the engine a little to help get the air out of the cooling system. When the thermostat opens, the coolant level will drop in the reservoir, so top it up and replace the cap.
Check for leaks, and check the coolant level for the next few days, and check for leaks.
Dispose of the old coolant responsibly

Pouring out antifreeze, car is not over heating

At a local parts store, purchase a coolant system pressure tester. DO NOT pressure the system while the engine is hot. The pressure tester will attach to your radiator fill cap where you can pressurize your system, exposing any leaks. Any local mechanic should perform this test free as well.
