I can't start the van and when i try, the electrical (from what i' hear) sounds dangerous!
The interior light was flickering on and off when i was trying to start it and weird sounds coming from the dash!
Should I considering jumping it to get it started to get to my mechanic or is that the wrong approach?

And you know the fuel filter is good? Could be injector problem: just as a check, spray some starting fluid into the intake and see if engine runs a few seconds. If it does, it is a fuel problem. Check injector fuse, as a start. Check fuel pressure. Check injector circuit. If engine won't start with starting fluid, check if you are getting spark. Problem may be in the ignition system.
Try taking both battery connections off and cleaning both battery posts with like a wire brush then take like a piece of 150 grit or so sand paper and put it in the end of each battery cable and sand them till they are fairly shiny then hook battery back up and try and start the van.
