No its not hard but it the safe way to get the strut and spring all together if you have an auto zone or where you are getting the new one from they will tell you the same thing and can print you out a diagram at the same time if you do not have an auto zone near you do like i do i go to the local library

How adjust struts on my 1998 dodge intrepid

should be done by a shop on a alignment machine, basically you just loosen the 2 big bolts on the hub that hold the strut to it, failure to do it properly will affect steering and ruin the tires.

Need to replace stuts is it as hard as they say , or can i cajnge it like a shock ??? is there any special tools or is it better to have a shop do it , i am pretty good at wrenching but am limited to...

Hello teri_townsen,

Working on strutscan be dangerous because the spring is under great pressure so caution must beused at all times. Unless you have a suitable spring compressor I wouldrecommend you install complete strut assemblies. They come assembled with all newparts and you don't need to deal with the spring. 1. Remove thethree strut mount nuts from the top of the struts. 2. Raise andproperly support the car on the frame allowing the front control arms to hangfree. 3. Remove tiresand wheels. 4. Before youremove the strut to knuckle nuts and bolts mark the position of the bolts toknuckle so when you reinstall you can keep the camber correct. 5. Remove strutto knuckle bolts. Note: care mustbe taken that no damage to the ball joint or CV axle, so retain the knucklewith a bungee strap or something suitable. 6. Remove strutfrom vehicle. Install inreverse order. Tighten the top threenuts to 30 foot pounds. Tighten the strutto knuckle bolts to 90 foot pounds. Tighten lug nutsto 100 foot pounds. If you are notsure if you kept the proper camber alignment you should have the front endaligned. Again, care mustbe taken at all steps to avoid injury. Regards, netvan

How to change front struts of 1995 buick regal?

Go to Autozone and buy 2 front strut "cartridges". Then rent their strut cartridge installation tool from their loaner tool program. You can change both sides in about an hour without even jacking the car up-be sure to have a 15/16" wrench on hand for the nut and follow the directions that come with the loaner tool. Also spray a little penetrating oil on the nut a few days before you do the job. There is no reason to change the entire strut assembly unless something has failed.

How to replace the rear springs and what size are brake lines.

rear springs are part of a strut assy, get a quick strut fom o'reilleys or az. it has the spring, strut, mount, all new and ready to pop in, otherwise you will need to tear the strut down and will need special tools. it is also a little risky, springs can fly pretty good when they slide out of compressors

Change rear gas struts on 98 Buick Lasabre

No, it isn't...
You need:
-20" breaker bar
-torque wrench
-Liquid wrench (or WD-40 if you don't have any)
-Jack and stands
-sockets to fit all of the connections

1. Remove the back seat:
Bottom cushion comes out by pushing it rearwards and lifting, undo the 2 seatbelt bolts and 2 push nuts and remove the back cushion

2. Jack and support the frame of the car
3. Remove the wheels
4. Place a jack under the control arm where the spring connects to it and put a little tension on the spring. (this is so that when you unbolt the strut the control arm won't come crashing down)
5. Remove the air tube by rotating the spring clip 90 degrees and pulling on the tube at the connector.
5. Remove the lower strut bolts. (Exprerience shows me that removing the lower one first will save you lots of agony...)
6. Remove the two strut mounting bolts that are behind the back seat cushion.
7. Compress the strut and remove from the vehicle.
8. Installation is opposite of the removal. Remember to use a new mount if the one you are removing is worn. I recommend Quick-strut 171798. Good Luck!

P.S. Torque Specs are:
Lower Strut bolts- 140 ft/lbs
Upper strut bolts- 30 ft/lbs
Mount to strut bolt - 70ft/lbs

Most likely, you'll need to raise the engine a bit to get the oil pan to clear the crossmember and the crank throws. This is not as hard as it sounds, but you will need a lifting bar to raise the engine and remove the bolts from the engine mounts. I would get a manual for this car as they are not the most intuitive to work on.
