Question about 2001 Kia Sportage

1 Answer

I just had the heater blower and regulator changed on my 2001 KIA Sportage and it seems the air is very cold coming out of the vents until I drive the car. always was able to heat up just running the vehicle a few minutes prior to driving also seems the air cools off sitting at stop lights and slow city speeds?

Sounds to me like they have removed your thermostat as this is a real good indicatiopn of that. if you dont have one in the temp of your water stays really low as it is always moving unlike when thermostatically controlled where heat opens the valve. either way the car should be fine but will need it replacing if you live realy warm climate.

HOLD light is on........car is running fine, recently went in for a tune-up This is a 2001 Kia Sportage

there is a 4-5 inch fuel return hose coming off the fuel rail. Usually most technicians do not see the fuel leak because it is slight and it evaporates fast. it is also close to the cold air intake for the heater(cowl) making the fuel smell inside the vehicle strong. the hose when removed will be dryrotted and hard. the hose costs under 10 dollars and a half hour to an hour labor is needed. it comes directly off the fuel pressure regulator

I have a 2000 sportage. The heater fan does not

It may be the blower motor, or it may be the blower resistor. Check for power at the blower motor. If power present with system on and blower has good ground, motor bad. If no power check blower resistor in air box prior to blower motor. If power on input side but nothing coming out to blower change resistor.

Does the blower work when you turn off the A/C? If not, it sounds like either the blower motor, relay or blower switch took a poo! 06 Kia? Should still be under warranty.

2001 kia sportage blower motor resister

Rule of thumb...unless you get a better answer:  look for a couple of wires on a small plate that is in the airflow of the fan on the heater/ac unit.  The resistor pack is always air cooled by the fan.

Repair Manual for Kia Sportage.

I just purchaced a 2000 Sportage and am having the same problem. I did find that Autozone.com has a free online manual that you can view and print sections from. I would rather have a book at my side when I repair my car, but until somebody comes up with one we are stuck with the online services.
