Court, With the wiper switch off and the ignition switch in the "run" position, disconnect the wiring connector at the wiper motor. With a multimeter or test light, verify you have 12 volts on the yellow wire. Then check to make sure you have a good ground on the black wire.
If both of those check OK, the wiper motor has a logic board under the cover of the wiper motor, it is most likely bad.
Good luck, let me know.
Regards,

When I use the wipers they stop in the up possion. Once in a while they return to their propper resting place.

the parking cam, part of the wiper motor on inside is going bad. Models:
2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue
2002 Pontiac Grand Prix
2002 buick century, regal also 2002 chevy impala and monte carlo.
To correct this condition, install a new windshield wiper motor crank arm and a windshield wiper motor bracket service kit.
if this fails replace motor.

My windshield wipers on my 2001 Chevy Impala stop in the upright position when i turn it off! WHAT DO I DO!! I NEED HELP!!

This is a very common problem on the Impalas. I had to fix my 2002 Impala. Both wipers will point straight up.
There is a tab that may be bent near the wiper motor shaft.
Open the hood.
You need to remove the driver's side wiper arm. You need to pop-off the round black cover and there's a nut underneath.
Then remove the plastic cover between the windshield and the engine compartment.
See the pictures below, Look for a bent TAB. it's really tough, but bend it back with pliers and/or big screwdriver. The "catch" needs to stop on the tab to park the wipers correctly.
If the tab is OK, look for a missing or broken spring. For that, you'll need to get the replacement part from the dealer. May be: park mechanism, part #12494832

Wipers willnot return to park position

I've fixed this problem before. You have to disconnect the wiper transmission from the wiper motor. Put wipers in off position, unbolt the plate on top of wiper, turn wipers on then off. In the off position see where the wiper transmission is position in relation to where the park position is, remove the top plate from wiper motor and position it so as to be able to reconnect the wiper transmission now in the proper place. Please keep me informed. thanks you

Winshield wipers stay stright when you turn them off 2002 chevy impala

You need to replace the wiper crank arm that is bolted to the wiper motor. Then you need to bend the tab back up that got bent on the wiper motor bracket that the old crank arm bent. The crank arm has to hit this metal tab so the wipers will park down below the window istead of up.

Windshield wipers

You will need to replace the wiper motor. Most likely the circuit board is bad. You might check with your local chevy dealer and see if there is a recall on the wiper motor before you buy a new one, even if you are not the original owner the car the recall will still be done free of charge. Some chevy models did have a wiper recall. I hope this helps.
