The radiator itself may have fluid in it but the overflow bottle is where the level should be checked.

And still the warning light is on? If so then the problem needs to be traced to one of several other possible issues. The most likely is the coolant pump not working and a symptom there would be no pressure build up when it gets warm. You can check this by watching the overflow bottle as the engine warms up, it should rise to the HOT level.

The other part of the system that could be causing this are the pressure sensors.

Is the coolant level staying full/constant? Could just be a stuck closed thermostat...the 3.4 motor is known for bad water pumps...a low cost repair on your Olds...check for leaks...try (when engine cold) be sure coolant in the radiator is full...may need to bleed the coolant system at the bleeder valve...(trapped air)

Overheating

CAR OVERHEATING FIRST CHECK FOR LOW COOLANT IN THE RADIATOR COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG.IF COOLANT LEVEL IN OVERFLOW JUG LOW REFILL ADD COOLANT BACK TO THE FULL COLD MARK.PUT RADAITOR CAP ON COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG START ENGINE LET IT IDLE UNTIL IT OPERATING TEMPERATURE.MAKE SURE TOP RADIATOR HOSE GETTING HOT WHILE ENGINE WARM UP.IF TOP RADIATOR HOSE DONT GET HOT WHILE ENGINE IDLING YOUR THERMOSTAT COULD BE STUCK CLOSE CAUSING CAR TO OVERHEAT.IF TOP HOSE IS GETTING HOT.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS CHECK TOP RADIATOR HOSE AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE FOR LEAKS.CHECK FOR LEAKS AT THE RADIATOR CORES AND PLASTIC SIDE CONTAINERS.IF ALL IS GOOD ENGINE OVERHEATING WHILE IN A LONG TRAFFIC LINE, COOLANT FANS NOT COMING ON.COULD HAVE FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR BLOWN COOLING FAN FUSE OR RELAY.COULD HAVE PCM FAULT.MAKE COOLING FAN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS AND WIRING NOT DAMAGE OR BROKEN.

Have a 95 Aurora, engine temp barely rises and heater blows cold air. I believe thermometer is stuck? It's located on lower radiator hoses, what's the flow of coolant?

CHECK COOLANT LEVEL FIRST MAKE SURE COOLANT LEVEL NOT LOW.FOLLOW TOP RADIATOR HOSE TO INTAKE MANIFOLD.THATS WHERE THERMOSTAT WILL BE LOCATED.

The coolant light remains on even after the radiator has been replace

have you checked the plug in at the coolant resevoir? if good, have you checked the fuse panel for blown fuses? low coolant light comes on because the sensor n the coolant resevoir tells the computer says there is not enough fluid in your resevior, the clear tank under the hood that connects to the radiator. you may have a bad plug in or a bad resevoir. i suggest you check fluid,,if good ,,check plug in,, if good,,replace resevoir,, hope this helps!!

Low Coolant light came on but the car is not overheating

If coolant level good, it's going to be the coolant level sensor. sensor sit on side of radiator, held on with a clip, most part places have this in stock.

At high speed engine temperature is Ok, at low speed or idle it warms up to over half way and the coolant level warning light comes on. There is plenty of coolant, an new water pump and a new thermostat....

is cooling fan coming on?? the coolant level light pertains to a sensor that is in radiator side tank that is notorious for going bad you may have two seperate problems normal temp at high speed tells me the wind passing across radiator is keeping cool when stopped or in traffic as temp increases pcm commands fan to come on if it does,nt you will heat up

My heat is not working in my car.. Do you know what the problem may be?

It could be that the coolant level is low, check the radiator level ( when its cool) if the coolant is low then add a pre-mixed coolant from about any store, If thats not the problem , then try back here. Hope that helps

Car overheating no heat coming from vents just cold air

NO heat because there is no coolant flowing throught the heaster core. Car is overheat since there is no coolant circulating in engine water jacket.
Check the coolant, if it is low, then check the oil level. If oil level is high then the head gasket is blown so coolant gets into the engine therefore there is not enough coolant to cool the engine.
If the oil level is OK and coolant level is OK then Need to check 3 following things:
-Bad thermostat is not open causing coolant stagnant then engine overhet.
-Bad water pump is not pumping coolant so there is no coolant circulating to disipate the heat.
-Bad radiator blocks the coolant flow from top to bottom radiator.
Good luck.

1991 cutlass cieara will only blow cold air when hearter in on Someone said to replace the rad cap but I can't see this being the problem? What should I do ?

The heat will come from heated coolant running through you heater core. There are several reasons for no heat:
1) The heater core is blocked.
2) The coolant is not getting hot.
3) The coolant is low and not getting to the heater core.

Does the engine temperature gage show the engine temp is correct?
Is the coolant at the proper level?
Radiator cap could be bad - not holding pressure, but more likely would be low coolant or an open thermostat. An open thermostat will cause all of the coolant to circulate through the engine and therefore the engine temperature will be cooler than it should be.
