Re: 1993 honda lx run cool while running ,but after it
Check thermostat might be sticking or radiator may need flushing if it only heats up while idling check your electric fan may not be coming on try turning on the a/c the 2 cooling fans should come on then if they do then i would check the cooling fan switch if they do not come on when the a/c is switch on you may have a bad electric fan motor or wiring to the fan or fan relay

Double check and make sure you have enough coolant in your system. Additionally why you are at it put in a new thermostat preferably the lowest temp allowable by manufactorer. A cool running engine is an efficent engine
check that you have a thermal switch to switch on the fan and not a temp sender unit. One completes the curcuit when a set temp is reached ,the other is a resistance unit that lowers the voltage which in turn reads hotter on the gauge.
There are 2 cooling fans one that runs Ono and off Witt he temp of the engine and 1 that runs when you turn on the ac. The fans wiring harness can hook up opposite ways. Meaning that the fans can run backwards if it is hooked up wrong. When the fans are running they need to be pulling air inward towards the engine not blowing out through the front of the car. This is the first thing I would check if it isn't running hot but the temp is above normal!!!
iam suspecting the temperature gauge here ,something is or could be wrong with its electrical conductivity ,or the cooling fan is coming on too late which could be caused by a similar problem with the fan temperature switch
Most Hondas and modern car fans can and do run at will. 215 on a scan tool is just reading the sensor and variation is ok. A temp gun is more accurate. Ill bet your gage is still normal. I have a honda and the fan runs at times when I get out. Normal
It sounds like either your temperature sender is U/S(but you replaced it right),or there is a problem with the relay that it operates(check this first)or short the sender wire/s and you will then know for sure which one it is.
The butterfly pivots on the throttle body can collect up residue, and can sometimes be cleaned with thinners if you can work it in whilst moving the pivot and then lubricating with light oil or possibly even WD40.
Otherwise it means stripping it apart to polish the shaft and journals.Remember to also lube the cable to offer least resistance and a short term fix might be fitting a slightly stonger spring.
