Question about 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Need to know part name

New a/c compressor but broke a wire. there is a bolt with two wires coming out. one wire goes to the clutch of the compressor and one is the power I guess. need to know name of this relay or sensor

Hello Alexis,My name is Andres and i will help you with the problem that you are having There is no tensioner per se on the 240. The tensioning is done by moving the alternator. At the top of the alternator there is a tensioning arm with an elongated hole in it. There is a square necked screw which goes through the arm and fastens to the alternator. At the end of the arm there is an adjusting screw. As you are removing the alternator forget about the adjusting screw. Slacken the nut on the square necked screw and push the alternator to the side, releasing the tension. If the alternator won't move, loosen the flange screw underneath the alternator until it will. With the belt off remove the wires from the back of the alternator, making sure you know which goes where. Remove the two bolts you have loosened and remove the alternator. HAVE IN MIND THAT There is a problem on the older 240 series, 1984 B23F I know from personal experience, with the ground not being intact between the alternator and the metal grounding point. Please check the wiring loom before you re-install your new alternator for a good grounding wire, or you'll be wondering why your Swede won't crank when you've just replaced the alternator. If worst comes to worst, you can create a temporary ground for the alternator with a piece of copper wire. Connect one end to a good unpainted ground near the alternator(strut towers will do), and the other to the attachment bolt on the alternator mounting bracket itself. This will suffice until you can get it properly fixed

Disconnect The AC compressor clutch, does the fuse still blow.

When i bolt the ground wire to engine behind alt, the ac compressor clutch locks on and stays on with key on or off. any suggestions???

The only thing it could be is the conrtol wire of the A/C compressor clutch relay is shorted to one of the wires grounding at the alternator . The PCM - engine computer controls the grounding for the A/C compressor clutch relay. Find the A/C compressor clutch relay in the under hood fuse box , pull the relay out of the fuse box an look on the bottom . You will see four sets of numbers . 30 & 87 plus 85 & 86 . Take an ohm meter an check pin 85 to ground with the ground wire's behide the alternator connected , you will have continuity . Disconnect the ground behind the alternator an you will probably have a open circuit . When the motor was changed wire's were pinched or something . Most likely . Here , check out the wiring diagram Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on HVAC , then under subsystem click on HVAC controls . Click the search button ,then the blue link . Fourth diagram down is for the A/C compressor clutch relay circuit. Don't know if know how a computer controlled relay circuit work's . Looking at the diagram .The DB/OR - dark blue with orange trace wire would have to be shorted to one of those ground wire's for the compressor clutch to stay engaged .

I have a 1996 jeep that I am having ac problems with.

the wire for the compressor clutch will come from a relay connected to the thermostat switch under the dash
ac compressors cycle according to cabin temp setting or from the climate control module

Replaced the ac compressor but now no power to compressor but have power to low and high pressure switches. checked relay under hood, relay and fuse in cabin. what am i missing?

Put a jump wire in the high pressure switch plug. If the compressor works. replace the high pressure switch. Let me know and we can go from there.

Ac compressor not engaging it is a new compressor and clutch and we just had it charged

Double check that the charge was enough. There is a pressure switch on the refrigerant line that is inline with the wire that powers the clutch for your compressor. You can check it with an ohm meter. Disconnect the two wires and check. If the system is charged properly, there should be full continuity across the pressure switch. You can check the clutch at the same point. Take the wire that goes from the switch to the clutch and supply battery power to it. It should click positively.

Would like to know how to intall an air condition compressor

Firstly de gas the a/c system then remove a/c belt then remove the 2 a/ c pipes to the compressor then disconnect the ac clutch wiring remove the bolts holding the compressor to the cyl block fit new compressor replace the ac pipe orings Then refit the ac pipes reconnect ac clutch wiring refit belt. Then regas the system addind uv dye and comressor oil

A/c wiring

The Red/White comes from the AC amplifier into the AC magnet clutch, from termianl 13.

The White/Blue wire goes back from the AC magnet clutch to the AC amplifier, terminal 14

The Black/White wire goes to two places, via a splice splice, 1 is to the relay box, Fan Relay # 3, and 2 is to the AC Magnet Clutch Relay.
