Hi,

With out being there it is hard to tell for sure but it sounds like the "tps throttle position sensor" you could have the trouble codes ran on it and find out for sure .

Try setting the idle at a higher level.
look for the adjustment screw near the carburetor. it is easily distinguished either by a big screw or a plastic screw that looks off from the others.

1994 Toyota tercel dies while driving,starts when crank couple time.will run good on freeways,only dies when driving in short steets.some days wont die.new timimng belt,reman distributor,cap,rotor wires...

have your alternator checked it sounds like its putting out low voltage you can do it you have a volt meter just hook it to the battery terminals you will be looking for a range of 13.5 volts to about 14 volts if your under thirteen its not enough voltage for the car to run and charge the battery at the same time.

My 1988 toyota tercel ez while driving to the mail box, it just died, and I had to pull it home. I can smell fuel, but I see no spark. why would this happen all at onece. It was running good.

Sounds like the timing belt broke or has spun teeth. To check that to the following: Remove the disrtibutor cap and then have someone crank the engine while you watch the distributor rotor.
If the rotor is turning the timing belt is still good. If not then that's your problem.You need a new timing belt.

Car died while driving, fuse relays work, just changed spark plugs, spark plugs are gapped correctly, turns over. Timing belt is intact. Acts as if car is not getting fuel, but fuel pump is working...

Use a little starting fluid to make to the engine CAN ran for 2 second.

On high mileage car,it's possible to jump a tooth or two on the time belt (not chain).

Can you set TDC top dead center on cylinder and open timing cover to see the cam dots are lining up?

DO NOT attempt this in the dark.

=====
Check for oil coolant cross mix.
=====
Change fuel filter
-=====
fuel pump motor can ran but the plastic diaphragm will fall apart in a HOT DAY.

94 toyota tercel with no spark

Does it got a distribiter or does is it have a coil pack.I'm thinking an distribiter with 4 spark plug tirminals,I would look into the Ignition Control Module if it has one.I looked at a parts listing for the car and it shows it has one but looked at a Typical Ignition System Schematic and it doesn't show the igniton control module in there.But i would think it is needed to control the spark.I would look into it and see if there is one,if there is i would test it that would be my guess of what's causing no spark.I got a pic of the ignition control module and theTypical Ignition System Schematic for you.

Hope it helps
