Question about 2006 Chevrolet HHR
I wrecked my HHR on Monday 2/16/09. A lady turned left in front of me. I hit her in the side on my Passenger side. It was driveable. That same day I took it to the Body shop to get an estimate. It was $4500. I asked while there about a "rub" in the front left ttire area and was told it was tire to plastic. It would be okay to drive. I drove the car for 7 days, 200+miles, until the next Monday when I dropped it off at the shop to start repairs. The whole time it ran like **** and drove even worse. Today, 2/25/09, I get a call from the body shop the car was in worse shape than they thought, or appeared. The front area has shifted 3 1/2 inches towards the drivers side. They commented about the possibility it may have twisted the Unibody. New estimate is $6500. My insurance already cut me a check for the $4500. What should I expect the insurance to do? I am hoping it will be totaled. I do not want to drive a car that has been wrecked this badly. During the accident I was only driving 20 mph or less. I know this isn't a FIX it question, but I hope someone can shine some light on the subject for me. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Talk to your insurance company, hopefully they will make an adjustment for the extra repairs. i hate to sound like a commercial but, geico helped me out when that happened to me, when my daughter wrecked my truck.
