1991 dodge dakota 5 speed manual trans .... where do I check the transmission fluid level ?

A plug on the side of the tranny will be the filler, If you have a drain plug in the bottom, If not, you will have two on the side, lower is level, upper is fill. Most manual trannys never get checked or filled, they go for life without the oil being changed. check it out.

I have a 1997 dodge dakota 3.9L auto trans 4x4. When the trans is cold it shifts good. but sometimes when it warms up it starts shifting at 3500rpm. as soon as it cools down it starts shifting normal...

THAT SOMEONE THAT SOLD YOU THAT TRUCK NEW THAT TRUCK HAD A PROBLEM, THEY EVEN THREW AN ADDITIVE TO THE CONDITION THE OILS PERFORMANCE BUT ITS TO LATER FOR THAT. REMOVE THE TRANNY OIL PAN AND CHECK THE PAN FOR MUDDY LOOK-ALIKE BUILT-UP. THE PAN WILL TELL YOU ALOT ONCE REMOVED. IF ITS CLEAN CHECK THE MAGNET SOMEWHERE AROUND THE PAN AND REMOVE THE OIL FILTER AND CHECK FOR CONTAMINATION.

I have a 1994 dodge dakota V6 magnum SLT just replaced fuel pump, water pump, transmission line. I was noticing the transmission was running slugish from 1st to second gear, every time you make a complete...

there are pressure sensors inside your transmission which tell it when to shift and whether to shift up or down. i would bet it is has something to do with those. if you take it to a shop, its probably 150-200 to fix, but better than having to rebuild the transmission, which could be around 800. the shop can plug a reader in and drive it around the block and tell you if the sensors are out.

U MUST remove the remove the drive shaft or u will damage the trans, this is true of all modern cars and trucks, have been doing this 35 years and am 100% sure on this.

Changing from 98 2.5 man.tranny,to 01 3.9

WOW. You want to put a 3.9 ltr V6 from a 2001 Dakota into a 1998 Dakota with a 2.5 ltr 4 cylinder? And you want to keep the manual trans? Have you considered what you will be using for a fuel and engine managment system? If you have a wrecked truck as a host vehicle then the changover may work. But it will take patience and a lot of work. I don't think the 4 cylinder trans will bolt up but I am not sure - never tried that. However that light duty trans will probably not handle the torque for very long even if it did bolt up. Your local Auto Salvage Yard will have a changeover guide and be able to tell you if that trans will fit either engine. My recommendation is to swap everthing and change that 98 to a 01, auto trans and everything.
Good Luck
Let me know how it goes?
