Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

1 Answer

The heater fan won't work in my 2000 Oldsmobiel Intrigue. The low settings on the fan initially stopped working then high settings stopped working also. This all began after I had water to leak into the passenger side floor board. What is the problem, the blower resistor, the module or the blower motor. How do I check out the problem. What wires do I check and where are they located? Where can i find wiring schematics?

it does not work on any speed, not just the low speeds (resistor) therefore the 'thanks for trying' reply by the op-why is there NO POWER? MY guess is the ignition switcy is burnt out, common on these cars.

Sounds to me that you might have a leak in the line. Those heaters are all Vacume actuated.

Heater fan only works on high

Replace the step switch, the contacts are burned out or just use it on high until that speed doesn't work...your choice..

Heater fan only works on high

more then likely its the fan resistor doing this. a fan resistor has different diodes or coils for each setting on fan motor. from low to high. it is under dash on passengers side. you have to remove cover held on by retaining clips, the resistor is mounted under the dash by 2 bolts. it has 2 wires going to it. the best place to buy one is at a local auto parts store. for the dealer will rip you off, big time. good-day !

Fan for Ac and heater does not work on 2000 T & C van. It only works on low or high. All other settings are the same as low

replace the resister module for the fan, this is what controls the speeds, and most of the time the blower motor is what causes the module to go out,

Why does my heater in my 2000 ford ranger only work on the high setting?

I assume that you are talking about the heater fan?

Your heater FAN has at least 3 settings, and for our purposes we will assume low,med and high

Low and medium run through a resistor High is wired direct
Either your resistor is bad or your fan is
I know it seems wrong that the fan could be shot but it could be pulling so many amps that it won't work in any other mode than high
I just had this happen on one of my trucks
Start with the fan

Heater & cooling fan only works on high.Power locks don't work.

there is a resistor for the heating and cooling fan speed. this controls the amount of voltage to your fan, which controls the speed. usually when the fan only works on high it will bypass the resistor and use the full 12 volts for the high setting. your power locks might be part of this circuit. i would check the resistor first then check the locks. usually the resistor is behind the high low switch
