knock on the speedo meter a couple of times and it will return to normal and you may have to giggle the wiring harness to determine if there is a loose contact or such

is your check engine light on,if yes scan it for code to make sure,ive done a few gm 4x4 with problems like yours,they where broken wire in the insulation near vehicule speed sensor at transf. case.hope was able to help

It sounds like the cable is sticking. You will probably need to replace it. You might attempt to put some oil in it, but it would probably only last for a short while if it even will solve the problem.

You can check the speed sensor on the transmission. Tap the cluster to see if it will reset. If not remove and unplug the cluster if the guage stays its just stuck if it falls when you unplug it you might have a short somewhere.if it does stay you can take the plastic housing apart and try to reset it by hand.
