Question about 1992 Acura Integra Hatchback

New temp gauge spark plugs, gas filter-Radiator engine still hot

My 1992 Acura intergra Rs (320 k)is not running - is bogging in low rpm.. isn't firing on all cilanders.
.block is hot...appears to have a little oil in spark plugs. out hose from Radiator hot from block cool? any ideas.

On ur firing issue check all ur plug wires,distributor cap and rotor button (if equipped), if u have individual coils for each cylinder u need to check each plug wire for fire by disconnecting it from the sparkplug. Take a screw driver and insert in the open end of the wire and hold it close to, say the intake or anything metal, while a buddy cranks the engine. there is also a spark testing tool that u can pick up @ any parts house for about $15.

The temperature issue sounds like a thermostat problem, it might not be opening all the way.

The bulging of the motor might be a result of not having all cylinders firing.

Worstcase scenario with this kind of milage and the symptoms that u r describing is maybe head gasket blown or also piston rings worn. ( That would explain the oil on the plugs and bulging).

I have a 97 jep cherokee country 4.0 and can't find the fuel filter...my jeep acts like it's not getting.gas and wants to put? when im going 60 or so and i changed the fuel pump but its still doing it


if you follow the fuel rail gas line, it goes to the filter.
for sure.
4.0L 97 , we have the FSM to see all that , ive posted it 100s of times here. that link.
please explain the bog more clearly.
cold or hot engine or both.?
is it just tip-in throttle bogging , only then POWER catches, up?
while bogging can you go to WOT and see if it has full power now?
ever get a full 60k mile tune up with new spark parts. and filters.
is engine misfiring.
is engine idle too low rpm or too high with a hot engine?
is fuel old.
did car sit for long time ? unused?

"not getting gas" can be 2 things, bogging or misfiring
they are night and day different, one is like pulling a dead weight
the misfire is violent engine shaking,

and 2 different diagnostic paths due to that ...

if wot is ok, then that implies fuel pressure is good. and filter.

WOT = WIDE OPEN THROTTLE.

if you changed the pump, you had it in your hand.

its on top of the fuel tank pump RACK.

if engine is tuned up,?
and power is low at wot,
i check fuel pressure live.(under varying engine loads)
if the pressure is out of spec, i get a new filter and PPR.
if pressures are in spec. dynamically.
i find out why the PCM is under-injecting.
ask how. its not hard.
(bad MAP?, , injector balance tests?)

92 geo tracker starts fine then during idle it sputters out unless I pump the gas. If I run it to 3000 rpm it seems ok, but anything under it dies. Changed fuel filter. Fuel pump hums so don't think


what engine, 16valves, or 8valves. silver top or black?
MPI or TBI engine. they sold both and are vastly different.
hums dont mean a thing, only that the pump can make noise.
pressure rules (and flow #1)
ive personally fixed every fail possible on these, stalls.
owned many and fixed more. (own 3 and restored them to 100% )
unfortunately this older car is not OBD2 level ECU/PCM.
so no scan tools work.
Ever give it a tune up.? at the 60k mile interval.? repeats?
1: spare parts, both filters. and timing belt?
2: EGR ,main loves to stick open if it does engine will stall.
starts fine , yes
does engine get to 180F coolant temp and hold? if not fix that first.
is engine idle at 800RPM, hot? y/n? if yes, EGR is not stuck open.
if lower, EGR stuck. or other probs.
not knowing which engine makes answers hard, and only generic.
not knowing the transmission option too, makes it hard. 3,4,5speed.?
the 3sp can have vacuum leaks that can be real bad for the 16v engine, see? see how the work together? or not?
3: bad TPS.
stalling happens for 2 reasons (not counting bad engine)
the ECU (engine EFI brain, puter. etc) does all it can to stop stalls
it has 2 slaves to do that. one is ISC other is spark timing.
when stalls happens this is a warning that the ISC is bad,
or is overloaded.
A: MISFIRE. Gross.( 50 reasons, but can be to rich or just needs a tuneup.)
B: bogging . Gross (too lean, or called fuel starvation)
my questions.
does hot idle run at 800 all the time. RPM.
does engine have full power on hills.
does engine stall coming up to traffic stops (EGR malf)
does the lost power. recover, with just holding throttle down? only?
can you tell the difference from bog and misfire.
bog is lack of power, its smooth
misfire is violent, it shacks the motor. does it?
when you pump the throttle, this engages ENRICH mode
in the ECU , and overrides lean,.
my guess, (cant drive it and if could , i can tell whats going on)
but based on your inputs, it say its lean.
if power is low on hills, i then.
grab my fuel pressure gauge. $20
i do this at every fuel filter change, since im THERE already
it has a test port, a 6mm plug.
i take this hose and check for 30psi,
see why guess here.
34 to 36PSI, key on, 3 times, (both engines, not stated, so..)

the EFI totally can no work at 20 PSI or hums.
it must be at leas 34psi.
below 28 the injectors fail. (read injector spec, and see that)
if the pressure is good there is hope.

post engine type, 4 injectors or 1.
and can go way deeper and more accurate.

It do not run right thear no house powermy engine is brogeing out


if its not getting gas...the evidence should be present on the old plugs.
if they were lean, run fuel pressure and volume measurements. in the event you still have the filter you were using before the pump work, change it. test according to the TSB that pertains to your model.
verify your build date and vin # before applying the info to this vehicle.
look at test step NS-1(mitchell manual,public library) and run those tests till you have a running ,driving jeep before condemming anything else. if you dont know what any of this means, tow it to jeep

which engine,? the have up to 3 choices.

what are the full symptoms,
did you do the full listed 60k mile tune up on car?
sparkplugs,wire, cap rotor/filters? no engine runs right with bad spark
unless it's a diesel.
starts good
runs good or bad hot or cold engine
idle at 800 RPM hot?
stalls> when hot and cold engine
lost of power
bogging
misfire,
learchs>

only stalls , but runs perfect even up hills, at wide open throttle.
fresh gas, or 1 year old?fuel.
can your fast right foot , save the stall, and easily?

ok stalls 101.
1; lost 12vdc to EFI system.
2: lost engine compression.
3: lost spark.
4: lost fueling or floods
there is a simple test for each.
do you want more guesses, or how to do tests.
can do both, but my guessing fails 99 /100 times.

tune it up
do the right foot test. those are always first. on stalls.
always.

some computers have a built in system that limits engine rpm to low speeds when an engine overheat occurs( Ford). Check for such a code. Check that there is water in the radiator and that the temp gauge is working

Engine bk firering & lose of compression.


Backfiring after warming up can be from many things.

One that comes to mind is carbon deposits on valves, causing them to not close properly. The carbon deposits would also heat up and then ignite air/fuel mixtures before the spark plug can fire.
Or you would have hot exhaust gasses leaking back into the cylinder on intake and that would ignite the fuel.

Tac gauge fluctuating, and engine running rough on acceleration could be a vacuum leak, do you hear a hissing sound when the engine is running? listen closely under the hood. If you have a vacuum leak you would lose power and your RPM would fluctuate oddly. As for the backfire however, there are probably more than just one problem. Its hard to say for sure.

So please, more details, noises you hear, when exactly everything happens etc.
What speed and RPM the engine begins to bog down at, does it stall? What range is ur tac fluctuating at? anything you can think of, throw it on there.
