Rear wiper stopped working

The rear wiper stopped working mid stream on my 2004 ford expedition, what could have caused this and how do I fix it?

I have the same problem. The motor has power, and works. But, the wiper itself is extremely tight. When I open the glass, and rotate the wiper manually, it is very hard to do. Like it is bound up.

My 2004 expedition had same problem, if you take apart the shaft that goes thru the glass it will be full of dirt, clean ,lubricate and reinstall, you may have to replace the O-ring on the shaft. a 20 minute job, very easy fix

Usually this is the wiper motor. Also check the lift gate glass actuator. OPen & close the liftgate glass a few times to see if that's it.

Intermittent Rear Window Wiper System
The rear window wiper intermittent speed is activated when the rear window wiper motor module receives ground controlled by the multifunction switch inputs to the rear window wiper motor module. The rear window wiper motor module then activates the rear window wiper relay (internal). This activates the rear window wiper motor by providing voltage from the battery junction box (BJB). Once the rear window wiper motor is activated, its internal run/park switch connects voltage to the motor, keeping it operating. When the rear window wiper motor returns to the park position, the run/park switch disconnects voltage internally from the wiper motor input. The rear window wiper remains parked until the rear window wiper motor module completes a time-out and then repeats the cycle.

------------------------------------------------------------------

  • The rear window wiper is inoperative
  • Multifunction switch.
  • Circuitry.
  • Ignition switch.
  • Rear window wiper motor.
  • Go To Pinpoint Test B .

During a recent snowstorm, the weight of the snow was apparently too much for the rear wiper. It stopped mid-stream and is stuck. Simultaneously, the intermittent function of the front wipers also quit. ...

Check fuse no. 11 (10A) in the driver's under dash fuse/relay box. I suspect it is blown. It provides power for the rear wiper, both washers, and the intermittent wiper function for front and rear. It probably blew when your rear wiper got stuck.

2005 ford expedition rear wiper

Sounds like a problem within the wiper motor not turning off at rest or not reaching it's rest point to be able to turn itself off, probably needs a new motor. Disconnecting it should have no relation to the front washer operation, you can confirm this by reconnecting the wiper motor to try.
