When I leave the car out in the rain, I get puddles of water on the floor of the back seat. Could a leak around the sunroof be the problem? (2001 Eldorado)

It is likely to be the sunroof drain hole(s) or hose. It is likely to be clogged with debris or it may be disconnected.

i think the drain is blocked that allows the water that collects under the wiper motor grill ,look on the rear of the firewall and their is a compartment where the wiper motor is ,look either side and their is a drain hole and i think this is blocked with dead leaves or general rubbish like old rags or tissue paper

My daughter just bought a 2000 pontiac grand am and it gets water in the back drivers side when it rains hard. Any suggestions as to what the problem is?

Is the car equipped with a sunroof. If so, I suspect sunroof drain is plugged up (leaves etc..) You need to blow compressed air through drains to unplug (if so equipped) You can also take it to a self serve car wash and spray hi pressured soapy water at suspect area, soap will leave a trail.

I have water getting inside when it rains on the back floor its a 2002 pontiac bonneville is ther any way to fix it when i go to car wash it leaks in

I'm assuming the vehicle has a sunroof, if so you'll need to be sure there are no obstructions like leaves or small sticks keeping the sunroof from completely closing. If the sunroof is closing properly it may be time to replace the weather stripping seal around the sunroof to get the leak stopped. Please rate this answer, thanks.

If you have a wet seat then it is likely defective weather stripping around the window.

Try this. If the floor is dry, then it rains and the floor remains dry, only gets wet after a drive in the rain or on wet streets, you may have a hole somewhere.

Check for holes from missing rubber grommets or holes in the floorboard or firewall from rust. Check for any rust holes or missing rubber grommets under the car or on the firewall, anywhere water can splash up into the vehicle from driving in rain or running through puddles..

Check wet spots along the carpeting all the way up under the dash, if the wet spot is higher than the floor itself, you could be getting the water from splashing through puddles.

Any holes under the car or in the fenderwell even up on the firewall can cause this problem.

First check for any obvious signs of rust, if none are found then look for missing or defective rubber grommets.

Leaks by feet

1st the sunroof leak- there is some type of channel/drain to direct water out of the sunroof area. Open the sunroof and look around the outer inside area for evidence of junk blocking the channel/drain, such as leaves, dirt, pine needles, etc. and clean out with a vacuum and toothpicks (to dislodge). If you can find a drain tube in a channel (it should direct water to the underside of the car), the easiest way to clear it is with compressed air.
2nd Since this is much worse since the windshield was replaced, I am thinking that it was not installed and sealed properly. So, first try to clean the channels and any drain tube(s). Next, with a hose, spray the windshield only, not the sunroof, and see if it leaks at your feet in the front seating area. If it does, the windshield install is to blame for the leak there.

2001, rain water comes onto the passenger side floor. I removed the cabin air cover and reinstalled, siliconing the edge to the windshield. It still leaks. Whats wrong?

Are you sure it's rain water and not coolant? Coolant would have a distinct smell.

Does the car have a sunroof? The drainage tubes on sunroofs can get stopped up and allow water to enter the car.

Water leak on fwd and back passenger side after every rain storm

pull your carpet up near the leak area and look for muddy body seams. it is possible one of the factory body seams are leaking- possibly in the cowl(under wipers) area, especially if it leaks when the car is sitting. there will be dirt/mud around the seams that are leaking. also you can check door seals by running the car on HIGH DEFROST with all doors and windows closed. spray around with a 50/50 soapy water solution. obviously bubbles will form around your leak.

Water on floor in back seat

sorry to say but it sounds like the heater core has a hole in it. it maybe easy to get to in order to replace it. check your coolant level, if low fill up run a while let cool and check water level again. or a costlier method would be to have a cooling system check, you can buy one at most auto part stores. you place the cap on radiator and put pressure on system if pressure goes down you have a definate leak. replace heater core. hope this helps
