The little metal particules in an used transmission is normal but in the oil pan have a magnetig tip for catchit, remember also to change the oil strainer too

2005 mercury marquis transmission stops working while driving


check the trans fluid level and whether the fluid is red and clear or burnt looking like oil. You might want to relist this problem with more information. Like if trans will shift into forward or reverse, if all forward gears work, does the trans downshift upon stopping, does it make noise, will the engine rev up and the car just stands there, etc.

A bad torque converter is the link between the engine and the transmission. It usually is either good or bad and not intermittent. If you relist by answering the above items another Expert may be able to solve this for you.

Transmission won't downshift from 3rd and 4th occasionally. Changing the fluid and adding some trans conditioner works for almost a week, but it comes back. I can downshift if I move the shifter from D4 to...


Your transmission has a filter screen ...take off the entire bottom transmission cover ,,go buy some new transmission fluid and a new screen .....when putting the cover back on make sure your bols are evenly torqued ..job finished

02 xterra downshift shudder/OD on all the time


The first thing you should have done is to have all the transmission fluid flushed, this may be due to worn out fluid friction modifiers causing torque converter clutch chatter.

Ok im like the 3000 preson ive seen here with overdrive problems~? it wont go into overdrive,ive read everything from change the over drive sennsor(in the trany?) to replace the ecu~! any an all help to...


Shoot the transmission or better yet get a wire and command the overdrive itself to come on. But before you can do this look at the transmission fluid is it burnt or very very dark?And when you check transmission fluid level(car running) is it foaming or you see little bubbles.If you do shoot the transmission. Okay now check throttle cable or TV the one on the throttle body youll have 2 of them with is at wide open throttle take hold of the transmission downshift part does it have 1/4 freeplay it should cause that can affect the downshift.which in turns affects the overdrive. Now lets get to the dirty part in order for this transmission to have over drive. 2 solenoids signal must be in the off postion when the vehicle is in fourth gear . Your not slipping right? Now there is a sensor called O/d direct speed sensor(NC2) it detects rotaion speed of the clutch drum. all this does is detect shift timing by comparing NC@ sensor signal to the VSS vehicle speed sensor. this is the one on top of the transmission its called an input sensor or turbine. Now is the overdrive working yes it is does it feel like it works nope.when you turn on the overdrive and the O/D light is on its only transmission shift quality you only have 4 gears your transmission is a A541E 4 -SPD. Its working fine stop thowing part into it and dont shoot it.

My 2004 chevy optra (auto) is having problems when downshifting. Whenever I am coming to a stop it jumps/downshifts really hard before making the stop. What could be the problem?


FIRST CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL MAKE SURE ITS CORRECT.IF FLUID LEVEL OKAY SOUND LIKE STICKING SHIFT VALVES.CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID + FILTER.GET SOME TRANSMEDIC ADD 1/2 TO NEW TRANSMISSION FLUID THIS HELP FREE STUCK SHIFT VALVES IN VALVE BODY DONT OVER FILL ADD IT IN.BUT DONT OVER FILL TRANSMISSION.IF THIS DONT HELP.YOU COULD HAVE VALVE BODY PROBLEM.

My at transmission does not shift through its gears or downshift when manually downshifting.fluid level on dip stick is good.


when you checked the fluid level was the engine running? to check auto fluid in gearbox the engine has to be running to be correct

Transmission does not downshift evey time


THIS IS MOST OFTEN CAUSED BY AN INTERNAL LEAK INSIDE THE TRANS MISSION, TRY CHANGING THE FLUID AND FILTER AND ADDING A CAN OF LUCAS OIL BRAND TRANS FLUID STOP LEAK AND CONDITIONER, THIS MAY CURE THE PROBLEM.

sounds like you guys have sticky solenoids in the the trans ,my advice it to go to the nearest automotive place and buy some sea foam for trans because it will free sticky solenoids
