Question about 1987 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

My 1984 polo will not idle without the choke out.

I have changed the plugs, coil, distributorcap. rotor arm and coil. I have replaced the rubber base pklate to the carb. Any other suggestions as it will still only run with the choke out?

You could try the air filter, but if not that check oil condition and level. if it is a milky colour then you mite have a leaking head gasket which could cost you quite a lot to have repaired

I would be suspecting a faulty condenser and coil as when they reach operating temperature they start to break down electrically.. Check that the auto choke is coming off and not tending to over fuel the engine

1995 vw gulf chico. hesitates when applying throttle or letting of throttle. idles fine and runs fine under constant acceleration. replacing plugs didnt fix it.

Have you checked the spark plug leads, disy cap and rotor. Does that model have points. Have you checked the coil. Some golfs have a rubber mount for the carby that splits and sucks air in. Have you changed the fuel filter. Is the air filter really dirty

There is a squeek in the front end, Just put new brakes in but it still squeeks. Could this be a CV joint or a Bearing? The noise is present with or without the brake s applied. There is no vibration and...

worn CV joints "click," but only upon turning.
worn bearings "grind," with a faint metal-on-metal sound.
So, squeaking in the front end is unlikely to be a CV joint or a bearing.
Squeak could be almost any front suspension component, but here's the reason to stop
guessing what it is and jack up the car, remove the two front tires and inspect the
front suspension: it could be a bolt/nut
that is loosening - and by catching it, and tightening it, you could save yourself the cost of
replacing the missing hardware. Also, be aware that an inspecting mechanic (if your state or
county requires a safety inspection (like Pennsylvania)) will inspect all components of your car's
front suspension as a routine component of your car's safety inspection.
Also:

1-----Inspect----- Coil Spring----- Broken or Weak Coil Springs.
2-----Inspect----- Sway Bar Bushing----- Worn, Damaged, or Faulty Stabilizer Bar Bushings.
3-----Inspect----- Steering Stabilizer Bracket----- Loose or Broken Steering Stabilizer Bracket.
4-----Inspect-----lower ball joints-----Loose bolt/rubber bushing to lower control arm.
5-----Inspect-----Upper Ball Joints-----Loose bolt/missing rubber bushing.
6-----Inspect-----Connecting Rods-----(these are the rods that connect the lower control arm to the
front of the frame) Check for loose nut (on the frame side), or loose bolts (on the control arm side).

Vw polo 97 1.4 missing on 1 cylinder, checked the basics, plugs n leads, dizzy cap n rotor arm hasnt made any difference. can u help?

have you isolated which cylinder is misfiring?
either way I would have a compression test done .. to find out which cyl is not firing pull 1 spark plug lead off at a time until you get the one that makes no difference

1984 ford f150 running erratic.

Check and adjust your choke accordingly, also since you have given it a tune up you should adjust your timing if it needs adjustment. Also check for any vacuum leaks. As for the exhaust leak I would look along the exhaust manifold and then along the exhaust pipe under the cab, check where the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe connect as there should be a donut or flange in there and it could be deteriorating. Good luck and remember to rate all the solutions you get, thanx.
