Question about 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
Check engine light came on, went to dealer, had that fixed, now the "Change Oil Soon" message comes on when I start the car. Only goes off when I hit the Info button. But next time I start car it comes back on. Oil doesn't need changed for another 1500 miles. How do I get the message to not come on?
You have to reset the message. The instructions are in the owner's manual (I have to do this myself every time I get an oil change.) You put the car into accessory and then scroll through the menu options. It's easy.

This occurs when the dealer is not a registered dealer or has not reset your meter. the counter is an automatic thing which runs via your milage/tacho and should as you say only come on when need to. my advice is to contact your dealer again and explain to them and would also be handy if they thought that you were taking it back to them next time????
