I had the head gasket done 6 months ago and now the car wont rev over 3000 revs, checked plugs and found them all black and sooty, also the car blows out loads of black smoke, can anyone help me diagnose the problem please
I read your post about your car; as one who has put alot of $$ into your engine rather than having another car payment I asked my significant other who is a real "GEAR-HEAD"; He said if you had the head redone: the plugs are completely black (covered in carbon); the exhaust is as black as the plugs are; most likely the exhaust valves are sticking and the catalytic converter is clogged! He said one sure way to find out is to start it; let it as it is warming up; look under the car at the catalytic converter & see if it gets "RED"; if it is....TADA!! THERE'S YOUR PROBLEM!! GO FROM THERE! ONE REQUEST: Take it to a real mechanic or someone who knows what they're doing; not just taking your wallet to the cleaners! Hope this helps & gets your situation resolved. Hi there!
It's very likely a valve stem seal that has split. This will allow oil into the cylinder from the crank gallery.
Off with it's head! I'm afraid.
The only other thing it can be is overfueling - but then it will be sputtering and lagging on acceleration.
You can check which cylinder is affected by removing the plugs and looking for the oily one. They will all need replacing really as it's false economy to do just 1. The seals are cheap. I would get a new cambelt fitted at the same time - as it has to come off anyway.

Turbo Wastegate (cut away) must be adjusted correctly.
A regular maintenance routine for a turbo charged vehicle will ensure proper operation and have less risk of breaking down, as well as damaging components.
To help regulate the air intake pressure a device called a waste-gate is designed to release boost at a measured pressure point
