On a 98 model you may be able to get that at your local Ford dealer. They will need your vehicle identification number and proof of ownership and picture ID.

Also, you should have some metal tags or plastic card with the codes in your owner manual packet package. Dealer can cut keys with codes. But, if you have antitheft, you will need to program those keys before they will work.

SOURCE: Ignition key code problem

"...or is there a receiver in the ignition that could be faulty?"

Hi, I think you will find that there is a little coil in the steering column near where the key goes in which "reads" the key. Whether that is faulty or not is another matter. The best way forward is to get a list of fault codes from the onboard diagnostic system and take it from there. You could either go to a VW dealer, or if you are technically minded you could buy a £15 interface cable, download some free "VAG diagnostic software" and run it on a portable computer.

Hope this helps.D

SOURCE: corvette 1988 keys

1988 corvette...service engine soon light, Code 34. Replaced MAF sensor twice. Pin C voltage reads .94vdc at idle, should read .5vdc. Troubleshooting guide suggests faulty MAF sensor burn off module but part not listed anywhere. Found two modules under passenger dash but no reference as to function in repair manual. Anybody got an idea?

Lost keys

The dealer should be able to cut a new key with information from vin number they may want proof of ownership. Some cars have a code stamped into the drivers door lock barrel you may be able to take this code to a locksmith to get a new key cut, you need to be aware they may not be code key if it is a transponder type

Some of these keys can be made at the dealer with just the vans id #, you can call the dealer service dept and see if they will cut a new key. then some of these need reprograming, the dealer or an auto lock smith can cut a key and program it.

You cannot disable the immobiliser. If it were that easy, any car theif could defeat it by searching the internet. If you dont have any more master keys, you will have to have your local Toyota dealer reseed (reprogram) the immobiliser code, and program new keys for you. It should be about 2 hours labor and cost of keys, but only a dealer can do it. They need to use the Toyota scan tool, and access a Toyota only website with security codes.
