I would try changing the fuel filter next, but you really need to determine if it is indeed a fuel issue, because it could be a spark issue.

When the problem occurs and you have checked and are getting spark/fire at the coil plug wire and any spark plug wire, then I would agree that it's likely to be a fuel issue. If fuel injected - Check the fuel pump relay, check the injectors & fuel pressure regulator. If you have access to a fuel pressure gauge, hook it up and watch the fuel pressure; It should maintain the min. PSI even when engine shuts down. Most auto parts will rent them and they can tell you what the min & max pressures are... Good Luck !

The truck was dying sometimes. We changed the fuel pump out and now the new pump will not kick on. We spliced the wires and installed the new connector just like the paperwork showed, but it will not kick...

i dont believe there is a fuel cutoff switch on that yr but you might want to check the pump take it out and wire it straight to the battery for a few seconds if it doesnt kick on and stay on then return the fuel pump... if it kicks on and stays on then you might want to consider a new sending unit as well as the pump it doesnt cost that much more and then you wont have that worry later down the road

My 95 tahoe starts but dont stay on. Fuel wont stay pumping from tbi. Just swapped a motor from 80's camaro. Was running real good in box chevy perfect. Now fuel wont stay flowing out of injectors. Already...

did you install the oil pressure switch origional to the tahoe? The tahoe uses a low oil pressure shutdown, instead of an inertia switch to shut off the fuel pump in the event of an accident. If the pressure circuit does not close within 3 seconds after the engine starts the fuel pump shuts off. This is in case the truck is on its side or upside down the pump will shut off.

Lights on dashboard

you have a battery or an alternator problem have them both checked before they truck quits on you that has nothing to do with your fuel pump unless when the lights are shutting off the check engine light if flashing. if it is have the truck repaired as soon as possible. good luck.

It Sounds Like A Fuel Supply Problem. Which Means It Might Be Your Fuel Pump. Check Your Fuse's And Battery Connections Before You Start Getting Into Dropping The Tank And Replacing It.. I Had A 94 mercury That Would Run In The Winter But Would Shut Off While Im Driving Down The Road In The Summer. When It Would Shut Off I'd Listen To My Car. Turn The Key On For 4 Seconds And Off for 2 and Have Someone Listening To The Gas Tank. The Pump Should Make A Constant Tone. If The Tone Changes up and down or if you hear grinding. theres your problem. a basic electric fuel pump for a car should turn on for 3-5 seconds and shut off when you turn the key on. NOT STARTING IT.

Lexus won't stay running

The crazy part about it my car doin the same thing.Part of problem was I had got some bad gas from a cheap gas station( so watch your gas) I replaced fuel filter and pump (by car shop) and put in jet cleaner also. When I took car out shop it was still doin the same thing. I have changed the throttle position sensor and it seemed like it half-way fixed the problem, but now all it do is stall or cut off when touch gas pedal.
