Question about 1995 Mazda Protege
I have a 2002 Mazda Protege that has difficulty accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear from stops. The car actually jerks as it pulls away from stops until I get it into 3rd gear and above. Is this a transmission problem or fuel injection, or maybe an o2 sensor. I had a check engine light on, but reset it without checking why it came on. I figured it was because the gas cap was loose. Maybe it was something else. Any help would be appreciated
I had the same problem and found that the air admission tube was badly cracked.
Since this let air enter the engine downstream of the mass airflow sensor it is not measured so the engine ECU don't send the proper amount of fuel to provide the right air/fuel mixture. At higher RPM, the vacuum in the tube is enough to close the crack and hide the problem.
I temporarly repaired it with duct tape until I get the part.
