Question about 2001 Volkswagen Beetle
I replaced the plugs but it didnt help, I removed the ignition module/coil and it has several cracks in it. Could this be the problem? Thanks my 2001 1.6 beetle has a cylinder misfire. it has had new valves head gasket, timing belt, coil pack, plugs.the misfire keeps changing from one cylinder to another
Hi, Yes it certainly could be especially if water gets in. You should also check the distributor cap. The misfire sounds like an arcing problem so it would have to be one of those two things since you changed the rest. Good Luck!

Yes, this will allow for the energy being generated to the plugs to release onto anything close enough to give it a ground. I found a website that said to remove it and coat it with liquid steel 2 part epoxy. I did that on m y '98 Beetle and worked very well for about another year. These coil packs are a POS and VW knows it, but will do nothing to resolve the issue. I did see where they recalled all 2001 & 2002 VW's to replace them, but did nothing to acknowledge the previous years, which are of the same caliber.
