Pits one of the five door ajar switches. They are located in the door latch mechanism that holds the door closed. The best way to figure out which one it is is to scan the body control module. With all the doors closed. It will tell you which door is giving the open signal. This will need to be done with a high end scan tool that any good shop or the dealer will have.
The most common one to fail is the driver front door.
Start at the driver's door; since this is the most used door. Disconnect door ajar swiches one at a time until the light is off with all doors shut. If the light is still on with all switches disconnected, there is a short circuit in the wiring somewhere. The most likely spot for a short circuit is under the carpet near the front seats.
sounds like one of the dome light switches is bad pop them out one by one and disconnect only one at a time until the light goes out or door ajar goes off, then a quick trip to the parts store and you are good to go! :) hope that helps
If the door ajar indicator on the cluster is also on, might want to soak the door latch with WD-40. The door ajar and interior lights are turned on when the door latch is open. Some times the switch gets stuck, and a good soaking of WD-40 will release it. The door latch and the switch for the door are the same unit.
it sounds like a bad door switch, does the dome light stay on also? if so, it is a bad door switch.it is also possable the switch is adjustable and you can try each of them individualy by pushing in the tab in the door jam that looks like a "turkey timer" (but it is black)..good luck, marty
spray some lubricant (wd40 etc.) into the lock mechanism on the doors .. the switch may be jamming up ..
The front door entry system contains a latch that is fastened to the
inside of the door frame and is controlled by the exterior and interior
door handles. The latch contains a door ajar switch and a door lock
actuator. The front doors can be locked/unlocked by the remote keyless
entry (RKE) transmitter, the RKE keypad, the door lock control switch
or the door lock cylinder.
Ok, Inside the Door frame, The small black button that Triggers these on and off, Press it with your finger really hard and let me Know what it Does. I can get that Unplugged for you if it is Indeed Bad.
