robtheref200: it is not uncommon for there to be generic parts which have a multitude of applications. The way they may apply them to various vehicles is by using various adapters, whether it be electrical connectors, different size hoses, a variety of different clips or there may be special instructions which instruct you to move certain things to a different position on the brackets supplied.
The fact that you checked with two different parts stores was wise.
What you might do, is go on line and see if you can find this same application. Often there are internet stores who will sell the same product and you can look them up your self. Your only other option is to buy a new one from the dealer, which may be cost prohibitive. ALTHOUGH>>>>on occasion, I have checked and surprised my self to find out the dealer had the lowest price in town!
I hope my answer will have helped you in making a sound decision.

Your check engine light is trying to tell you that one of the many systems monitored by the computer is malfunctioning. If the light is on, that means that there is definately one or more fault codes recorded in the computer memory that will lead you to find out what is wrong with your car. You need to scan your engine computer and retrieve the fault codes. Then the fault codes need to be properly diagnosed before anyone can tell you what to fix.
