Question about 1995 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

1 Answer

Is it going to die?

When it is in neutral or drive if revved to any rpm when gas is released it chugs for a second almost dies then catches and returns to idle.
at a consistant speed or accelerator pressure it is fine.

i have given it a tune up.
wires, plugs, and fuel filter.
i have asked the auto parts guys and the dealer they say it could be a huge number of things???

Does it only do it when you start it if it does, what its doing is dumping more fuel in then what its supposed to meaning your fuel rail regulator is bad

My truck died

first , have the fault codes read as that will give you an indication of the problem area
taking that it is automatic, the engine revving before stopping indicates that the torque converter clutch servo/solenoid has failed
that could be from TCM or wiring problems
stopping the engine may be from over rpm control
the fault codes should give a better idea
At this point it seems like electronic control even to the point of the ECM failing

Sounds like throttle position sensor to me. It will let engine go dead instead of maintaining an idle rpm. Try disconnecting battery, and after leaving disconnected for a couple of minutes, crank vehicle and maintain a steady rpm with gas pedal. Doesn't have to be revved up high just steady. Called relearning tps. Sensor might be bad but I would try this before buying a part first.

97' Jeep Cherokee revving problem...

There are several reasons this can happen. First check all vacuum lines to make sure they are connected and unbroken. Second, have a code test done to see if anything has registered in the computer. There are also individual component tests you can do but what I suggested is a good place to begin.
