2006 Jetta loose wires above front left tire, exhaust light

My daughter just bought a used 2006 Jetta Value which she has only had a couple of days. First she discovered a couple of loose wires hanging from under the car. You could see them above the left front tire. Also, on the way home from the dealership, the car gave her a hard time starting. I even tried and it hesitated. After giving it a minute, it started. We haven't had a problem with that again. But now, the exhaust light has come on and there was some smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes. She has driven it once since the light came on and it is still on. Does anyone know what is going on?

This is a used car so I don't think the lemon law applies. Like most used cars, it was purchased as is. It has a carfax warranty on it. I have an appointment to take it in for them to look at. Does anyone know what the wires go to???

I'd get it back to dealer & give them 1 chance to make it right. In the meantime, have a look at this site, and print out what it says pertaining to your state etc. (www.lemonlawamerica.com). Doesn't hurt to look for dealers association sticker on his window or wall and contact them if not staisfied with his/her response.

Just bought 2003 GTI for daughters first car when pressing brake pedal I hear a clicking/knocking sound in left front tire area only when applying breaks? had CV axle changed on that side

If it only does it when using the brakes, the problem is most often something with the brake caliper or rotor. The caliper or the pads may be loose.

HAVE VECHICLE CODE SCAN.SOUND LIKE YOU COULD HAVE BAD WHEEL SENSOR OR DISCONNECTED OR LOOSE WIRE.BECAUSE 4WD DRIVE NEEDS SIGNALS FROM WHEEL SPEED SENSORS AND VECHICLE SPEED SENSOR BEFORE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE CAN SHIFT CORRECTLY.

could be as silmple as a loose gas cap or a failed fuel system componet, you will need to have the system "scanned" by a service station or dealer to narrow down the problem

Exhaust system light is on - 2006 Jetta

What you here running after you shut your car off is just your exhaust fan. Your turbo will not continue to run. As for the oil change effecting the exhaust this may be an issue. IF they actually drained the regular oil and then put synthetic then you should be ok. But if they just put more in on top then they may have messed up your Cat converter...good luck with everything
