When does it jerk? At all speeds or just high or low speeds? It\'s not uncommon for an ignition coil to fail in these cars and that can cause a very rough idle, and rough acceleration. I would take your car to an auto parts store or dealership and have the error codes read. That will likely tell you exactly what the issue is.

Check the transmission fluid level first. There is no dipstick, so a certain procedure has to be followed to verify you have sufficient transmission fluid level. Best done on hoist, and fluid temperature should be 40 deg C or lower (= cold).

My 2001audi a4 is leaking coolant. I have changed the water pump and thermostat but it is still leaking. I pour water in and it pours right back out. Can't see where it is leaking from. Looks like...

could be the thermostat housing the intend to crack orget rough edges around the thermostat were the o ring sits into the housing

Change the transmission fluid. VW says "lifetime fluid" but it needs to be changed at least every 80,000 miles. I used valvoline maxlife, it is synthetic and met the vw spec.

Take out your MAF sensor, positioned on main air intake pipe to throttle and clean it with Carberetor Cleaning spray and away you go. this is the first thing to check and normally very common.
