Question about 2003 Ford F250 Super Duty Crew Cab

1 Answer

2003 Ford F250 superduty diesel 7.0L ,no start in cold

Truck will only start in cold weather if it is plugged up...Hooked it up to computer at auto parts store...altenator..replaced , fired right up..drove a few miles turned it off..wouldn't crank. Had to get a jump off ...then barely made it into my driveway before lights dimed...dash lights gone, radio gone and ABS light flashing..coasted in. plugged ti back up..took the alternator off..returned to store...checked out fine....my original then checked out fine. Replaced both batteries... put alternator back on...replaced glow plug relay switch, because it wasn't staying on long enough..Now truck won't even crank! No lights still...What can I do next?

I would say your F250 has a {short circuit}going by all the facts you tell me there has to be a loose or faulty electrical connection in the ignition circuit.get it rechecked also check the main earth strap it could be broke/corroded.also check the main voltage regulator as this can cause this problem.hope this helps.adrian

SOURCE: ford f250 superduty turbo diesel 7.3L Will not crank

Charge the batteries. take a Reading to make sure that you are getting almost 14v to both batteries. If it is not charging then take the alternator back off and have them check it. you might have bought a bad one. There is a way to test the glow plus with out taking them out. ( Take a piece of wire long enough to reach all the glow plugs from the battery. unplug the glow plug wire.If you touch the end of the glow plug with the hot wire it should make a little spark. if no spark then the glow plug is bad. do this to each one, but one at a time)

I drove with my son the other day when my service engine light came on and my truck lost power (95 Z71) . we made it home and the light went of. we replaced plugs and wires but the truck still barely runs...

Read the check engine error code for a place to start (large auto parts stores will have a scanner for use at their location, and they may even scan the code for you and tell you what it means). Good luck.

My toyota sequioa will not start when the weather outside is cold..... later it 'll start when outside is warmer.

I would get your battery load tested. Most auto part stores will do it for free.

I'm having an issue with my car dieing. I tried the conventional jump and couldn't even get the car to turn over.? There is an indicator on the dash that the lights are on, but I can't seem to identify...

in order for the car to do conventional jump, you'll need to leave the booster cables hooked up for say, 10 minutes at least. you may have left lights on accidently.while the other car is attempting to boost yours, look for anything you may have left on,headlights,an interior light on,maybe a door left cracked open.the cold weather wreaks havoc on car batteries. your battery may need replaced. autozone, advance auto parts, both of these parts places replace car and truck batteries free.they also can check your battery to see if does need replacement.they can also tell you whether you may have an altenator thats bad, your car dieing issue may be your altenator bad, when your altenator goes bad,the car will run until the battery is drained completely. if that is the case, you can take your battery out, have it charged, then drive to a close repair shop for altenator replacement.hope this helps, and as always, thank you for choosing fixya.com

Battery will not charge

Take the battery to an auto parts store or Sears and have them run a battery test. It is very likely one or more cells in the battery have failed and it needs to be repalced.

The truck starts up for a few seconds then dies?my truck is 1989 isuzu trooper ,the weather is very cold right now , is this a fuel pressure problem?

It actually could be a number of things. I need to ask you more questions to narrow my prognosis down. You mentioned the weather being cold, lately. How cold? Freezing? When was your last tune up and do you eventually get the car started after trying for a while? If you do how does it run?

2005 SIERRA 1500 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON (STEADY)

Sound like it could be the purge valve, it is located between the cab and the box on the drivers side, it has a plug and a hose going to it. It has a small foam filter in it which must be removed, cleaned, dried and then reinstalled.
It happened to me.
I don't remember if I had to remove the neg. post off the battery for a minute or so to reset the fault code.
