Question about 1988 Chevrolet Blazer
At first the light would come on and the engine would run out of power, I would have to shut it down and restart, then it would run fine, but it started happening more often, I changed the anti knock sensor and other sensors as per auto zone teck suggestion. he then said to replace the computer and place the original chip back in it, I did this and now the light flashes all the time and the engine runs at a high idle and loads up when I start up no matter what the temp is out side.
Am I forgetting something simple or have I done something stupid?
thank you for any help anyone can give.
The autozone person gave you bad advise. The problem is most likely something with the exhaust. I am not ase mechanic but in all my experience a blinking light and loose of power usually means catalic converter. I bet the code means exhaust system performance

That autozone person cost you a lot of money and time. Don't listen to them, if they were mechanics they would find a mechanic's job. They are trained to run the store and sell stuff. What they know about mechanics is what they learned on their own. Okay to listen to their advice, but take it with caution- they may be just as reliable as someone off the street.
All mechanics know the trouble codes do not give you license to start replacing parts. They point you in the direction of the problem, but you have to use judgement and experience from there.
You need to go to a shop with qualified mechanics. Or post the codes and take advice from the internet-they can't be any worse than Autozone. Lots of ASE certified mechanics online, not me, but others. I'm just a shadetree mech, self-learned, I only give advice when I think it might be helpful.

Hi! You must be frustrated by now! your code is marking that the O2 sensor is bad in bank 1. Did you replace the O2 sensor that is located before the catalytic converter? The S10 has an O2 sensor specially made for that cat. its about 30$ That would explain for your blackened spark plugs; your pc on the car is asking for more fuel. GOOD LUCK!!

check to see if the oil cap is on tight,it wont run well if it is off or not tight...if it smells of strong gas fumes then replace the fuel regulator, the catalytic converters could be plugged, let it warm up as much as you can and use an infrared thermometor with the laser light(you can get at Home Depot for about $30.00)and check the temperature of the converters by aiming it at it and the temperature should be no more than 1500 degrees...or pull the distributor cap off and inspect for cracks and corosion..

My truck has high milage and it started doing the same thing, it would run good some time and bad at others. I changed the tps and it corrected the problem. I did this after spending countlesshours at the shop and just swapping every part that anyone suggested. Also google tps and a video will show you how to to check yours, but for the thirty dollars. Just change it out
